Blinken's less panic-stricken 'walkback' should resonate.

This morning, Secretary of State Tony Blinken formally walked it back at a news conference in Jerusalem: "We do not have a strategy of regime change in Russia, or anywhere else for that matter."

"It's up to the Russian people," he added.

Axios: Biden’s worldwide walkback.

Roman Abramovich and Ukrainian Peace Negotiators Suffer Suspected Poisoning.
Bellingcat said experts who examined the incident concluded "poisoning with an undefined chemical weapon" was the most likely cause.
The victims said they were not aware of who might have had an interest in an attack."
Citing the experts, Bellingcat said the dosage and type of toxin used was not enough to be life-threatening, "and most likely was intended to scare the victims as opposed to cause permanent damage. The victims said they were not aware of who might have had an interest in an attack."

^ Everyone else, including the Ukrainian negotiators involved are urging caution on this story. The US are suggesting "environmental" issues, ie. food poisoning? Bellingcat's reputation was built on their reveal over the Canterbury poisoning. They do say their investigation is ongoing but it would be a blow to their credibility if it are shown to have jumped the shark on some misinformation.

Meanwhile, despite every man and his dog "rowing back" on Biden's visceral threats, the old guy himself remains unapologetic and says he meant what he said... without positing on regime change.

If it's OK for Putin to send in Wagner mercenaries, I guess it's OK for the allies to do something similar.

Yes. Defense contractors. One needs to be very specific.

Very true. In Iraq I supervised over 100 Kenyan and Ugandan dudes working for $400-$500 a month but my company also employed Sierra Leone guys for as little as $250 monthly. No doubt the US gov was paying $6,000-$10,000 a month for these positions and the company simply kept the difference.

Kind of mind warping thinking about bunches of Africans running around Ukraine trying to kill Russians or Ukrainians . I watch a short program on them. Sadly so many have no other skills to move on in life, so off to fight other peoples wars for cash. I bet no one really even counted them if they got killed.

I'm no fan of Biden, BUT, I agree with what he said. The majority of politicians are afraid this will irritate the Russians. The Russians are pulling back so they can regroup and figure out why this war is so expensive. They need more ammunition shipped in. They are likely running out of missiles.
