Totally agree with that sentiment - just as his mother was given a chance.papafarang wrote: ↑April 22, 2022, 7:25 pmI like charlie, he should be given a chance . apparently he wants to change Buckingham palace into museum , just keeping apartments there for royal occasions.
On the other hand, don't agree with that sentiment. To think that Buckenham Palace has no power seems to be pretty naive.I'm not really a royalist but on the other hand they don't do me any harm. They have no power as heads of state.
Just ask Gough Whitlam.

Re: HM Queen Elizabeth II's 96th Birthday
The Queen (Gawd bless 'er) is starting to throttle back and let Charles and William take on some of the burden, which leads me to wonder why they haven't asked BoJo to rock up to the Palace and explain why the fudge he hasn't moved on yet.

Queen Elizabeth II did NOT dismiss Whitlam. The two parties painted themselves into their own Constitutional corner. Kerr, albeit wrongly, acted on his own initiative.
Anyway, I recall the ALP under Whitlam lost two subsequent elections and the Queen had bugger all to do with that.
Suck it up buttercup.

Soon. It's not the court of Henry VIII any more and the palace waits for the dipshits to fall on their own sword.

Re: HM Queen Elizabeth II's 96th Birthday
Kerr, as Head of State, and Lizzie's representative in Oz, certainly had powers - which was the point of papa's post.
What happened in subsequent elections is irrelevant, buttercup.
Re: HM Queen Elizabeth II's 96th Birthday
Kerr did exercise his powers. That doesn't mean he exercised them correctly. He sought counsel but ultimately he made the decision, not the Queen or anyone else at the palace.jackspratt wrote: ↑April 22, 2022, 10:02 pmKerr, as Head of State, and Lizzie's representative in Oz, certainly had powers - which was the point of papa's post.

What happened in subsequent elections is extremely relevant when you compare the results of two elections prior to Gough being shitcanned. The people's choice was already showing him the door.
No worries petal, sometimes it's like that when backing a loser.

HM Henry VIII is 531 on 28 June.
Well, that's a shame about Henry not being around anymore as it seems we have a long wait.

Seems like everyone else apart from you moved on about 47 years ago. Even Gough and Fraser buried the hatchet.jackspratt wrote: ↑April 22, 2022, 10:51 pmThank you - we can now move on, and you can throw all your red herrings back into the pond until next time.![]()

I am just thankful one of my forebears had the temerity to steal a loaf of bread to feed his family and for that heinous crime get transported to the land down under. Dont 'stress Khun Paul we are all only 6 degrees from Her Majesty, even the great unwashed from Australia who no longer fawn at the feet of the self titled landed gentry.

I can just imagine you crawling along the floor if you ever received an invitation to visit the Palace in Bangkok.

We don't either trekker, its mostly 'respect' for a real hardworking lady. Do not think Charles will have enough time on the throne to come anywhere near the respect and affection that HRH is held in. William seems to have at least a chance if he gets crowned early enough.

Can I suggest that I accompany you, Sir? You'll need a hand getting up after crawling around a room with a hard floor and those knees will punish you.jackspratt wrote: ↑April 23, 2022, 8:03 amYou are a real card, KP.![]()
