The attached link gives unedited speech delivered by Richard Marles in Beijing in 2019
https://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2022/0 ... ation.html
Thanks for that.

"When necessary we will raise our concerns, as we have about the minority Uighur population in Xinjiang, or the situation in Hong Kong.

We do this on behalf of all Australians who believe people have a right to express their views through peaceful and lawful assembly.

So of course, at the same time, violence can never be condoned even in the form of protest, we look toward a peaceful resolution in Hong Kong.

A resolution that delivers the agreed promise of ‘One Country, Two Systems.’

What happens in Hong Kong matters to us, it matters to the world, and it is vital the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ arrangement in Hong Kong is maintained."

Or, as Shakespeare wrote, much ado about nothing.

You must have missed her opening paragraph, Barney.

There has been no evidence I am aware of that Marles "cleared" the statement with the Chinese Embassy.

I would describe that as misinformation.

You?

Here's a couple speeches from Morrison - as Prime Minister - which seem to follow a pretty common theme as Marles, from around the same time, on the subject of China.

Watched the video and gave up after finding 5 lies in the first 3 minutes

1. Speech was not 'cleared' by the Chinese, he disclosed it but there was never a clearance
2. Presenter stated funding had been withdrawn from 'China Matters'. Her broadcast was April 2022, she failed to explain that at the time of the visit 2019, this body was majority funded by the Australian government that also gave the body tax exempt status for any donations.
3. There was no cover-up about the trip, it was public knowledge.
4. It is also a requirement for the speaker to be informed about such trips and he must approve, the liberal speaker at that time did so. Including agreeing for a portion of the trip to be paid by the Australian government
5. The trip was not organised by the Chinese government, it was organised by 'China Matters' a body funded by the Australian government.

A complete load of twaddle by the extreme Right Wing commentator.

Cant see anything wrong with that. Trying to making something out of that, lol.

And Barney dont take too much notice of that whistler fella, he worked with the labor party for many years in Oz and overseas, has blinkers on with a touch of green glass.

JackS maybe a fence sitter, but come May, he will fall off onto the labor/green side of that fence. Hope he does not hurt himself when he wakes up on the 22 May.

A brilliant analysis of the lies told by the Liberals (sic) over and over for the last decade on the question of global warming/climate change/carbon tax.
Scott Morrison is setting up another fake fight on a carbon ‘tax’

If you’ve been paying attention over the past decade or so, you may have noticed that opponents of climate action in Australia spend a lot of time talking about things that don’t exist. Tony Abbott pioneered this technique by winning an election promising to repeal a carbon tax that never actually existed.

Abbott’s former chief of staff, Peta Credlin, is leading the authority on this point. Over to you, Peta. “It wasn’t a carbon tax, as you know. It was many other things in nomenclature terms but we made it a carbon tax,” Credlin said in February 2017.

Sport,

Don't take notice of that whistler fella because he worked with the labor party! What is wrong with being a member of the labor party? We have as much right to promote our progressive ideals as the conservatives do to promote theirs, it's called democracy.

That whistler fellow also worked with members of the liberal party, many friends and associations with some fine people in that party, where we actually shared many views in common. By working together achieved a lot in our community. New High Schools, public works, hospital expansions, cancer clinics, respite centres etc. Hell, I even voted for Howard at one election. Last election I voted against labor as the local labor candidate was a dud. As for working for labor overseas, news to me.

Your post reeks of intolerance. So why not sit down and read what I said, then try to resist the effort to personalise? Refute my statements by all means, but you are playing the man and not the ball. I don't mind playing the man if he is a dead set liar, those types deserve exposure.

Think about it. If Marles' speech was so awful in 2019, why was it not addressed then? The truth is, it was an unremarkable speech, singing very much the same tune as the liberal party at the time.

But wait. Oh dear, it is an election year, let's get a dirt file out, and even if we cannot find dirt, let's distort the facts and try a beat-up using our tame clowns at News Limited. Trouble is, it is getting nowhere outside of Murdoch media companies, the only people picking up on the non-issue are those already committed to blindly buy into the BS about a very much non-event.

Well 1 stat was - Electricity Price Increases (Average Annual)*

Did you miss the asterisk?

And all of mine were from an Authorised document - which is required under Australian electoral law.

And one more thing - Chalmers is the Shadow Treasurer, with a good chance of dropping the Shadow bit in a few short weeks. :D

How can any Australian leader, prospective or incumbent, even deign to claim Australia's economy is world leading when the world already knows that the UK's economy is top of the class. Bloris has been saying this for the best part of 3 years already.

Sorry, take a number.
