Big field of grass/hay on fire 17:00 ish 2 nights ago 5km North of town on NK Rd ...... couple of fire engines and several cars/bikes at scene. Could see black smoke from centre of town

Well that was interesting !

Got power back now after about 80 mins. Biggest hailstones ive ever seen in Udon, in fact, probably as big as the ones we had during a golf roadtrip to Pak Chong about 12/15 years ago

Nice drop of the wet stuff yesterday and in the night, certainly cooler , smells a lot better . Really pleasant in fact

We stayed in a temple in Bangkok the first 3 days of our move here in 1996. A monk told me to take 3-4 cold showers a day to ward off the heat. One of the smarter things we did when we built our house was to put our water tank (handbuilt brick/cement) above ground but under the porch.......an idea I got from the Bamboo Resort in Non Sung back in 1997. I see they're still in business!!

Well, this morning started cooler, but didn't stay that way! I was out, and got back at 4 p.m. - the bedroom was at 40 Centigrade, and veranda 39 Centigrade. Air conditioner a must ....
10 p.m. now and the Thai family had closed ALL the windows (thieves, you know) and still 35 Centigrade indoors. I have opened a door and several windows and put a fan on blowing the air out - but outdoors still 33 degrees. I am used to the hot afternoons, but this 18 hours a day of 33 plus is incredibly tiring. Fridge/freezer still too hot to touch.

Big thunder storm started about 01:00 this morning and still in progress - 06:45. Not much rain but thunder the likes of which I have not experienced before = Rolling, just timed one and it went for 35 seconds before fading out, can see the lightning dancing through the clouds rather than striking the ground.

While it appears some wilt in this hot weather, we forget last year we had over 7 ( SEVEN} days of plus 40 .
Hydration with water is a muist as is fans in most rooms and windows open to allow the HOT AIR which rises to waft outm of the windows.
However some people think air conditioning is the answer burning up hu8ndreds of naht on costs while attempting to stay cool.
Wear less or move.
Thailand has got warmer that I will concede, but with care and thought, the increase can be mitigated by often changing daily practices adopting the Mediterranean system work, lunch, rest, work

Close the windows during the day as outside temp is 5-10 degrees hotter than inside
At present here windows open as 24c outside inside a cool 29c
Rain had here overnite less than 2mm

Yes, the fridge/freezer getting too hot i noticed some years ago. If the windows are closed in the evening, the heat cannot escape and the fridge keeps pumping out heat trying to stay cool. I have put a fan in front of it and after about 20 minutes it is a lot cooler. Thais do not understand feedback mechanisms.

Trouble with that theory KP is that the temp here tends to be highest from around 2pm to 4pm. Plus the daylight in the med goes on far later than here in LOS. Here in our village people are out and about almost as soon as it is daylight (just now about 5.30am) to take the benefits of cooler morning temps. Same as our golf, start early as after 1pm temps just make it a nightmare.
