Paul, the TW owns this business, and I work for her (with a work permit). Also when we went to extend the visa for another year, she had to show the taxes paid last year to present. But to play it safe I had 300k baht plus in the bank, wasn't needed as we found out. I guess playing it safe was better for us on the money in the bank. This was all done on the 27th of last month, so it's recent.
Paul is right about the working for your wife, it all depends on the business she is operating and what position you will be working in. You might want to check in on a business visa, but think the Non-Immigration "O" for supporting spouse would be the best way. The main reason is that they will consider what you bring into the country and what your wife's business is making, should be a combination of 40,000 baht per month. Also the approval of visa's for supporting spouse is not approved in Nong Khai, the paperwork is sent to Bangkok for approval (usually 1 to 2 months before approval is sent back). You will get 30 day extensions until the approval comes back from Bangkok.
