Personally, I was never a big fan of Enid Blyton.

your recent posts are right off the rails. Are you okay? This racist rant is worthy of Khun Paul. Maybe a cozy chat with Doodoo will get your mind straight again.

I was. I used to love her books when I was a kid.

Re: HM Queen Elizabeth II's 96th Birthday
something is rotten in scotland ,
i think we can agree on that .
the blatant improprieties , and lack of any self-correction to
the entitled behaviour. it's all mildly disturbing

Eh? You're just trying to wind up tamada? I don't have Scotland and Scots marked as rotten in my book.
I have quite a few names in my rotten list and many of them come from places far away from Scotland: Trump, Johnson, Putin, Moscow Mitch, Kevin McCarthy, Ron DeSantis, Bill Barr, JD Vance, The Proud Boys, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Andrew Windsor ... (and Map rules prohibit me from mentioning one name in my list).
All younger than 96.

The case for abdication grows:
I think it's improper for a person to hold an important public office when they can't discharge their duties. We may nearly be there.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... tion-queenThis moment was always going to come.
Due to her failing health, Queen Elizabeth II was not present at yesterday’s state opening of parliament – arguably her most important ceremonial performance in the calendar year. Last night’s palace press release explaining that Prince Charles would stand in for his mother follows a pattern of recent similar announcements, the subtext of which is clear: the Queen is not well enough to fulfil the role expected of her.
Mounting health problems have plagued the Queen since she unexpectedly pulled out of last year’s Remembrance Sunday service having sprained her back. Her difficulties with physical mobility have persisted and she has described publicly how her Covid-19 infection in February left her “tired and exhausted”. Looking ahead to a busy summer of platinum jubilee events, one wonders whether she will be well enough to join in the celebrations.
The British monarchy has to face up to some difficult questions as to what comes next. The word “abdication” has been taboo in the House of Windsor ever since Edward VIII gave up his role as individual in 1936 to marry the woman he loved. Indeed, his dereliction of duty exists in direct contrast with the public image the Queen has carefully crafted as the nation’s leading public servant over more than 70 years.
Other European royal families have embraced abdication as a positive way of passing on the responsibilities of monarchy to the next generation.

Thankfully what you think GT93 in relation to people who hold public positions does not resonate with those who have the utmost respect for Queen Elizabeth and the role she has fulfilled over her lifetime, unless it was your intent to deliberately show disdain for the monarchy.

As people age they at some stage become less competent at work. It's the same for monarchs. They aren't deities. It's clearly improper for a once skilled surgeon to continue to operate once his performance has deteriorated below an acceptable professional standard. It's the same for leaders. Many people will respect the Queen's career but feel it's time she officially put her feet up.

She has mobility issues FFS. She's not a drooling vegetable on permanent life support like the Prime Minister.GT93 wrote: ↑May 12, 2022, 3:17 amAs people age they at some stage become less competent at work. The entire notion of hereditary rule is ridiculous in 2022. It may have had a purpose in the 1700s, but not today.

555. Are we going to see her cognitive test results? She understandably will have slipped as she's now very old.

Do we think she can recall who is the current Prime Minister of Australia? Another big fish oldie forgot his name.
Kxng Charles will know. He will have been itching for years to write Morrison dozens of black spider letters about the need for Australia to pull up its socks on environmental matters.
