Weather in Udon ?
Re: Weather in Udon ?
Localised parrot, dry as a witches chuff over here. But fair bit of dark clouds coming in from the S.W.
Re: Weather in Udon ?
Currently steady rain for over 2 hours East of Udon. More rain than in the previous 6 months.

Would not be surprised Dean. It started here over on the East at 11.30pm and continued to hiss it down until around 6am when eased off and stopped by about 6.30am. Plenty of Light & Sound shows through the night. Ducks exploring all the new ponds this morning.

Re: Weather in Udon ?
81 mm in the rice paddies of Ban Dung. A "fog" of those annoying big winged bugs poring out of the ground, flying for a few hours then dropping dead everywhere. The pavement is covered in them!
Sent from my 1977 Apple II using 2 Heinz bake bean cans and piano wire!

About the same time as it really broke, Mrs tam and a couple of neighbors headed off frog hunting. They were out almost all night with a combined haul of about 10 kg of gorpers. That's getting the sister-in-law about 300 baht/kg down the market 'soht, soht' so not a bad job for about 5 hours work.
So if you're on the east side and your 'hood is unusually quiet of frogs after this first deluge, you can thank Mrs tam & Co.

Nightly occurrence over this way Tam. As soon as the slightest bit of rain comes there are torches all over the adjacent fields. Dogs normally go mental for first hour but it keeps the searchers from being tempted to jump our fences and have a look around our place.tamada wrote: ↑May 8, 2022, 10:39 am

Re: Weather in Udon ?
there's a bog next to our property that since the rain hit has had an endless roar of the largest frogs imaginable. Since its a bog and likely has a goodly number of snakes (lots of frogs attract lots of snakes) good luck to anybody who wants to break through the brush, trash and mud to find them.

Yes, in Maison Rick it was frogs for Breakfast and Lunch today. I declined, they remind me of toads, just cannot bring myself to eat them
Re: Weather in Udon ?
Frogs legs are pretty good Rick. Fried up with a bit of garlic, yum. Thai style God only knows as everything just tastes of chilies to me.
Re: Weather in Udon ?
I have eaten frogs legs in France, here the legs are pretty small and they eat the whole animal.... maybe head as well!

Re: Weather in Udon ?
That's a fair old dump of water Parrot almost 4 inches of rain in a day. No wonder the farmers are looking happy just now. Thai Met Office predicting a drought in June but the Royal Buffalo say plenty rain and increased exports all year with Thai economy making an incredible recovery due to rich Indian tourists. Who to believe???.

Personally I would believe the Buffalo, far better at Weather prediction that the current slew of Weather forecasters.

Well yesterday was dry...ish. Although last night or in the wee hours, the nightly swarm of lets go out and die flying thingys descended, hopefully to night will abate.
