plus ฃ133.... still a good deal for Thai, and with the option of adding ฃ20 for onward flights to Udon at the time of booking is even better.
checked thai site and same flight is ฃ616 inc, for a sept date.

I've used Westeast frequently for booking THAI flights over the last few years since learning about them on Thailand-UK.

All flights I have had with them (so far) had the added bonus of an extra 10 Kg baggage allowance :D (don't know if that is still the case?).

The only criticisms I have are:
  • 1. I would prefer to see a tax inclusive price in their adverts (extra charges are sometimes indicative of a bit of sharp practice).

    2. They charge an extra premium for using Amex.

That's the Hook Jim, Westeast posting a fare of ฃ295, it draws the punters in, but not not bad at ฃ20 for the Udon leg. The extra 10 Kg baggage is to do with the coding, that Thai Airways have for Thai Citizens and their spouses. I have gone on that ticket, one condition is you lose 50% of your air miles with the THAI Royal Orchid Card.
If you join the THAI ROP you get 10Kg free, on reaching Silver status.

i thought that travel agents in the Uk Had to now advertise inclusive prices of tickets, everyone i have asked/looked at recently have shown the all in cost.
and the ฃ20 flight to udon is a return ticket !!!
just booked Thai flights yesterday(with another agent)...sadly not for the bargain price shown. :(

is that for any Thai ticket from UK, or certain coded ones and would the main booking have to be in their name ??

No Mr Ling it's not any ticket from the UK only certain coded ones TX is the code for Thai families. As long as one of the party is a Thai National, it don't matter for the main booking to be in their name. These family tickets only come up a few times a year.

I only learned of this because my mate has a business like Westeast.
He deals mainly in the Far East and is a main agent for THAI.
I always book with him because he always comes up trumps with the best seats.
He is a little more expensive than Westeast. Westeast work on big volumes and shave the commission to the bare minimum.
My mate has been in the travel trade for nearly 30 years, married to a Thai and he knows his stuff about SE Asia.

With the Silver ROP I got 20Kg additional, 10Kg on ticket + 10Kg on Silver - makes for a lot more Thai food that can be brought back.

I have always received full air miles on their tickets and will be returning on Thai shortly on a free "air miles" ticket (free that is apart from the ฃ135 security & airport taxes I had to pay to ROP for a free ticket!).

Unfortunately will miss out on ฃ20 Udon leg - hopefully it will still be around in a few months for the following trip.

Anyone from the UK flown with EVA?
The fares seem to be the same as THAI, I'm hearing a lot more people who fly to Thailand for family visits prefer EVA. Better legroom, newer planes, and better in flight entertainment.

Due in on EVA in 2 weeks.... :D :D
Have flown with them before and recommend them 8)
They now use the new Boing 777's
Comfortable, each seat has its own TV (Television not Transvestite) with loads of films, kids channel, news etc...well enough to take up the 11hr flight, usualy some nice eye candy as the LHR flight to BKK carries on to China (Bei Xiang I think), food "Aroi" and plenty of free drinks.
Lands Suvarnabhumi 3.05 pm (only 1 flight in/day from the UK) which gives you 3hrs to get over to Don Muang for the last flight to Udon with Thai Air....Return flights are at 12.30pm from Bkk Suvarnabhumi so you either get the 7.00am flight from Udon same day or go to Bangers the night before.
You can get discount flights in you hunt around on the Internet around the ฃ520 return marc (inc tax :D ) or standard is about ฃ340 each way
Change of return date on the ticket is FREE 8) if you buy from EVA.... but be careful if you buy discount online as there might be a surcharge of upto ฃ100 if you want to stay that little bit longer

Here's one at BKK last year....Ok I'm Sad  I took a pic of the plane

Thanks Panick,

You have confirmed what everyone else says, who do the LHR/BKK trip.
Sky candy, good food, plenty of drinks and the talked about in flight entertainment.
Connections to Udon Thani are good as well, with plenty of time to get to Don Muang.

I'm sold. =D>

Thai Air have got a good service ...used them before...but its time for them to update their planes from the old 747's..Austrian Air have improved this year by going to the 777 instead of the old A340 Airbus and its only a 40min stop-over in Vienna.....Still think that EVA is at Number 1 at the moment :D

Commenting on Thai as opposed to WestEast (the original topic) - I do have a number of criticisms:

Used to fly with EVA so if new planes now, what a relief. Before their business seats were cramped, stingy on the red wine, poor inflight entertainment and food catered for the taiwanese passenger not farang but understandable.Am sticking with Thai as get topped up countless times for the red wine, good inflight entertainment, flatbed seats and decent service at the new airport.
Orignally eva shared business lounge with virgin a few years back at heathrow and enjoyed that immensely but now sharing lounge sadly lacking in facilities. Is it still the maple lounge in heathrow? Thai I think share with SAS and red wine in abundance there. And as for the eyecandy at least Thai not chinese.

in the uk in the near future the prise shown will be the price you pay fullstop
i dont deal with anybody our anything that trys to hide the true cost to me period

it did say from and only certain 2 dates during August and about 9 dates in september on the actual site....i checked on the site and it is ฃ431 inc Tax (ฃ295 with-out) and it looks like it was available on the 4/9/07 return 4/10/07 got right up to putting card details in.
same flight on thai site was ฃ616 inc tax when i looked a couple of days ago.
agree on the price shown is the price you pay bit...thought it was already like that but.....
still a good deal and if a knowledgable finance man use's them should be a safe enough bet !!
