It's one thing to misreport the established facts (especially with the internet). It's another thing to not take responsibility and admit that the reporting was incorrect.

Non fake news follows.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats’ first attempt at responding to the back-to-back mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas, failed in the Senate Thursday as Republicans blocked a domestic terrorism bill that would have opened debate on difficult questions surrounding hate crimes and gun safety.

source : ons.gov.uk

my numbers came from a u.k. gov't statistical body. for year 2021. a report actually. with many
subcategories on knife crime in england. for EX.
it states there were 49,000 incidents of knife crime the preceeding year. well, how many were
simple possession, how many were stabbing incidents , how many were involved in burglary/mugging but no-one stabbed etc.,etc.,
how many were homicides, where people died.

there are many different sources for this data, and
the #'s always different. open to interpretation.

Thanks for the citation. Still off topic but thanks anyway.

Feel free to start a "Yet another stabbing in the UK" thread anytime. I agree that there's plenty to discuss there.

The show must go on
The National Rifle Association begins its annual convention in Houston
The NRA said in an online statement that people attending the gun show will “reflect on” the Uvalde school shooting, “pray for the victims, recognise our patriotic members, and pledge to redouble our commitment to making our schools secure”.
that is nice

Man oh Man what some people will stoop to
Here are comments from a former Journalist

These Republicans wan to to stop children being aborted but one born they will allow them to be shot and killed.

"Law enforcement authorities are facing questions and criticism over how much time elapsed before police put a stop to the rampage by a gunman who killed 19 children and two adults.

"But one media pundit assessed the reports and offered a really bizarre excuse: for police officers, the risk wasn’t worth the “reward.”"

Jason Whitlock, a former ESPN journalist who now works for conservative outlet The Blaze, shared a take in response to a tweet by right-wing disinformation peddler Jack Posobiec, who wondered why “armed Texans” didn’t go after the gunman.

Feeds the NRA narrative that the American public can't depend on their local police to 'serve and protect' them so they'd better head on down to Walmart and fill their boots with semi-automatic "safety" while they still can. May even catch a BOGOF deal on hollow-points.

Rumors about contributions to certain British political parties from the UK's knife makers. Anyone have any links? Members from Sheffield maybe?

I see despite the Senate asking for another vote, these 100 people decided to go on a TWO WEEK holiday rather than protect the Nation, what gets me is that people vote for these self-serving leeches and wonder why it is all going WRONG

Comes back to the same old argument about the 2nd Amendment written in 1791 when each State had its own Militia (no real Regular Army or National Guard in those days) and rifles etc. were muzzle loading with perhaps a maximum of 3 shots /minute in well trained hands. Would the Amendment be written today with semi automatic rifles and high capacity magazines available to almost everyone? I doubt it. Don't know if it is possible to repeal an Amendment but that one should be the first on the list if its going to happen.

Looks like Governor Abbott, who apart from parroting the bad news already out there, has offered nothing of substance, has come out questioning why Texas law enforcement apparently sat on their hands for about an hour while parents and teachers worked on evacuating the other kids. The local police claim they were waiting for tactical backup. A SWAT team from San Antonio maybe?

Thus Cruz's narrative of increasing the hardening schools and giving teachers 'shoot to kill' training gains momentum. This despite the existing, beefed-up security procedures and shooter-specific training hastily introduced after the Santa Fe school carnage tragically proving to be a(nother) busted flush.

Yip, the cops (or are they Texas Rangers?) have come out of this looking like a bunch of pussy cats. Hard as nails when having the advantage of 6 to 1 on an unarmed victim but wont go the extra mile when children are being slaughtered by a maniac. Most police today carry automatic assault rifles in their vehicles and wear body armour so why the delay in going in. Lack of intestinal fortitude?

In that case KARMA they deserve ZERO sympathy for being gullible and stupid, sorry they cannopt comp[lain because of their actions this and other horrific occurrences have happened. Plus as we see, eveyone is sloping shoulders blaming everything and anything including inanimate objects for this. .
