"According to the latest national census there has been a dramatic change in the past couple hundred or so years. Are you suggesting that the current makeup of United States citizens are not civilized (civilised)? "

Undoubtedly so ........ if these school massacres were happening in an African or Asian country the Americans would be at the front of the queue to call them uncivilised or even savages

fair call. and your little rocky crag of an island
resembles a penal colony with felons shanking
each other with sharp weapons. who'd go there?

So, you are calling Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native Americans (over 40% of the U.S. population) uncivilized. I doubt that you are correct but you're certainly welcome to your opinion. The 'broad brush" approach is commonly used by some members of this forum.

Your brush can't get any broader than that. I still doubt that you are correct.

Too many parents of the spree killing perps seem to turn a blind eye to their clearly very troubled sons. I would like to see the parents at times held partly accountable. I understand this is occasionally happening.

What you describe as their "clearly troubled sons" may be just another hard-working working parent's moody adolescent. Awesome hindsight there.

I have seen the father and mother of this latest aberrant pleading for his and THEIR forgiveness. Can you hold parents accountable for being unable to fix their children's social disconnect? Some don't even see it for what it is.

The parents of certain previous teenage shooter's were all a bit quiet on their progeny's gun possession and quite significantly, NONE of the media pressed certain parents or guardians how it came to be that their guns became murder weapons. I may have missed it but has anyone read about a parent or guardian being charged with any sort of culpability in this regard? I am confident that if/when it happens, the NRA pays for their lawyers.

Yes, there is at least one case currently pending where the parents' conduct was awful. And there was another where the young man was sentenced to 22 years in prison after I think a grandparent tipped off the police (and saved many lives).

Perhaps in some cases. With the US spree killings the cops put a lot of resources into looking at what happened after the event. That's not so likely with meth cases.

I see over 100,000 Americans a year now die from fentanyl and other synthetic opioid overdoses. The situation in the US has got worse. It's starting to be a bit of a problem here but we're perhaps 5 plus years behind the US.

Yes, with meth we're probably in the same ballpark as the US. Opioid deaths - no. School shootings - no. Access to guns - no - although per capita there are still a lot of guns here. White grievance - no. Stolen elections - no.

Actually perhaps I misinterpreted this link:

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/16/heal ... index.html

Other drugs such as meth are in the 100,000 plus figure. Lots of people are struggling. Not just the spree killers.

US president Joe Biden has suggested razing the school where 19 children and two teachers were shot and killed last week.

Has someone suggested that the United States does not have a problem with guns and mass shootings?
