Well Jack, there is one thing you will be doing at the end of the season, as a one eyed Eagles supporter = eating humble pie.
IMHO, putting crap on Freo will bite you where it hurts. Although not a supporter I'm thinking they have a good chance to make the semis.
I'm still not writing off the bulldogs yet to meet Melbourne in the grand final.

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
I have already (refer above) accepted that the Eagles will have a shiitt season, Dero. But given their record this century (and before) that can be forgiven.
I won't be bitten by anything the Shockers do - making the semi's (f they do) is up there with Everton avoiding relegation.
Looking forward to 3 down ..... 7 to go.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Well there you go Jack. Clutched a momentous victory out of the jaws of an ordinary one, despite being in an away game against the hottest team in the competition, so far, this year.Looking forward to 3 down ..... 7 to go.

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Thanks for the update.
You can't begin to imagine the depths of my despair at the Shocker's win, Dero - but displaying my usual flexibility, I will be satisfied with them losing the next 7 in a row. Thereby making it 1/9
BTW - which team are you supporting this year?![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Well displaying my own flexibility I mentioned at the start of this thread I liked the Doggies BUT subject to confirmation after round 12.
As far as I'm concerned and has been the case for the passed 30 years or so I support any team playing against the Magpies and/or Eagles:-
Flexibility!
Being an N.S. Welshman (born) never really bonded with any AFL Team.

I visited Australia in 1997 for the first Grand Prix in Melbourne. I was given a tour of Essendon's ground and at the end they gave me an Aussie football in Essendon's colours and a Jersey too. All for zero money. Loved the gesture and a Scots Essendon fan I will remain till the end.

Jack, you have been very quite on this thread lately. "Shockers" must be destroying your soul?
In saying that it appears your Eagles are starting to show some grit.

I nearly always enjoy seeing Hawthorn, Carlton and Collingwood lose. When these three aren't playing, I usually prefer a Victorian team to beat a non-Victorian team. There are exceptions as I also enjoy seeing an underdog team win.

FMD, Dero - I've got more posts on the thread than you have.
Now looking forward with renewed interest to the Shockers losing their next 6, including copping a flogging from the fast improving Hawthorn on Saturday.
You'll be relieved to know my soul is in great shape, which is more than I can say for the hapless Dockers supporters over many years, who will likely never recover theirs.![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

If you like underdogs, keep watching the Shockers. They have presented as one for about 95% of their AFL existence.

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Opened up a bit in the last couple of weeks with the shockers flying and the premiers losing a couple. Has their bubble burst? Even with the loss to Geelong last week I am bullish about the scray going into the second half of the season.
I really only hate Geelong these days. I can only ever remember beating them on the very, very odd occasion over the last 50 years. They generally carve us up.

Ya gotta be a brave man to put $100.00 on any team at this stage of the season. So many upsets and form changes.

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Wide open season Dero. Take out north and anyone can beat anyone on the day. Melbourne's advantage is points in the bank, even of they are having a bit of a slump. Brisbane, Freo, Richmond, Geelong and even Collingwood getting it done at the moment and staking a claim. While Melbourne, St Kilda, Carlton and Sydney seem to be dropping off a bit. Makes for good footy when anyone can win.
