H.M. Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
Re: H.M. Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
Well it is over, Long Live Her Majesty, however as usual conspiracy theorists aqre talking about Abdication, appointing P Charles as regent , due to her poor health. She only has mobility issues , nothing more maybe too old for corrective skelatal surgery . Pain from deteriorating joints is really painful, reduces the quality of life 100%.
Good party, lovely p[agent , however life must go on .

In other news, the England national footie team were booed when they took the knee before their game in Budapest. FIFA had already sanctioned Hungary for previous spectators displays of racism and it was supposed to be a 'closed doors' game. However, the HFA used a UEFA loophole and children with adult guardians were allowed to attend the game.
I guess for now, England hasn't quite yet got the monopoly on ignorance, bigotry and racism.

Do you mean the England football team, the supporters or all of us?

Re: H.M. Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
after 4-5 days of revelry , we're now faced with the sobering reality of "the general misery of the brit existence" pints beer fetching 8£ in london pubs
inflation at 10% , political institutions a shambles
taxes thru roof . fish&chips stocks drying up. yes,
slag off yanks if it gives relief. we genuinely feel pity

source: ons .gov.uk
according to brit gov't source it's at 8% ytd
maybe it's brexit, maybe russian problem. i think
you'd be hard-pressed to find brit who thinks 2%
or maybe your figure is a monthly change
yes , your guy is flipping monthly & yearly rates
or some independent # related to£ as parrot says
because 2% is a ridiculous figure

Re: H.M. Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
I think that 2.27% inflation rate is related to the pound, not to the consumer price index.......which is what most people (who shop) follow

...meanwhile, in the real world.
Inflation is a measure of the rate at which a range of prices are rising over a given period of time.
In the UK, this is worked out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which notes the prices of hundreds of everyday items, known as the "basket of goods".
This is constantly updated. In 2022, items such as tinned beans and sports bras were added, reflecting a rising interest in plant-based diets and exercise.
The ONS releases its inflation figures each month, showing how much these prices have risen since the same date last year. This is known as the Consumer Prices Index (CPI).
Inflation rose by 9% in the 12 months to April, up from 7% in March.
The Bank of England has warned that UK inflation could reach 10% in the last three months of 2022, largely as a result of rising global energy prices.

The idiot Brit haters on here would have us believe that is only the UK suffering at the moment.
European Union annual inflation was 8.1% in April 2022, up from 7.8% in March. A year earlier, the rate was 2.0%. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Mostly because energy prices have shot through the roof in the last year.
We still await the real economic pain the Russia's invasion of Ukraine is going to have on food availability and prices and, is the US Fed policy of bumping up interest rates going to result in the same kind of foreclosures we seen in 2008? So nothing to do with Boris, nothing to do with Brexit what else will you blame it on now.

Just a gentle reminder that we still await the outcome of the enquiry into Sir Kier and his Marxist cronies about his blatant breaking of the rules as well.stattointhailand wrote: ↑June 7, 2022, 6:07 pm211 Tory MPs who still think that the law is not for them or their mates?

I see the Serial Liar as the biggest Brit basher. He treats the British including the Queen with contempt. He partied and partied while she had to mourn alone. Don't know what constitutes a party on your rock, but we pretend Brits (according to the new biggest troll) usually have loud music, lots of varied drinks, people in various states of inebriation, the odd chemical or herb available, heavy petting and other sexual acts taking place in dark corners and the odd fight or two. A staid cheese and wine event in the back garden is akin to an afternoon tea party rather than a PARTY.GT93 wrote: ↑June 8, 2022, 7:30 amI see the Serial Liar as the biggest Brit basher.
