Any trial may be better served in a Scottish court. Under Scots law, a criminal trial may end in one of three verdicts, one of conviction and two of acquittal, i.e. Guilty, Not guilty and Not proven.
The former leader of the SNP was billed with a Not proven verdict on one of thirteen sexual assault related charges. Despite the other twelve findings being Not guilty, for most people this means the stigma remains attached, if not the stink.
