She's still a long way from New Zealand or the Solomon Islands statts. If she hangs around much longer, even her successor might be too old to travel longer distances.

The palace officials still dress her really well. This makes her appear younger than a typical woman in her 90s.

Yes, more and more countries are having second thoughts about the Windsors. Disappointingly NZ appears to be at the back of the pack. With the change of government in Australia, we've fallen well behind the slow moving Aussies.

I read that Harry Windsor spat the dummy over this treatment by the royals at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and scarpered early. I don't blame them for keeping him at a distance. His pending book will be a major concern. I suppose he'll be shxtting all over his father again.

I read NZ's Queen was seen in public for only 27 minutes during the Jubilee celebrations. That seems to have been enough to keep her thirsty NZ and UK fans happy. Perhaps she's working only an hour or two a day now. That's really good for a 96 year old.

I also read she was smart enough to stop Harry Windsor from photographing her with Harry Windsor's daughter because of concerns the photo would end up on US TV. Smart move. The money hungry do nothing Harry Windsor would have made quite a bit of dosh from those kinds of photos.

She kept most everyone happy, regardless of where they were. With the possible exception of her great love for horse racing, she's never been one for long public engagements even when younger. Her Coronation itself was probably the longest. The anti-monarchists predictably beat their gums on this

There are strict protocols on who gets pictured with HM placed on EVERY Windsor hatchling, always have been. They recently released previously unseen famlly photographs dating from the youth of HM and the late Chookie Embra. The anti-Harry brigade are lapping this up as a uniquely anti-Megan snub.

That increases to 95% when the subject is Harry and Meghan.

But I guess Royal gossip writers need something to write about, and gossip consumers need something to read about.

I think you are being generous JS, about 98% of the articles written about the Royal Family is tittle tattle or whjat someone thinks or it is an educated guess.
What is fairly factual is that HM is handing over more decisions about the Family regarding how it is viewed to her son and grandson. She is maintaining the Diplomatic centre as it were , imparting the news to various members as required, as in the case of Andrew, NOT partaking in the Public walk for Garter Day, as in Harry, no you are NOT getting a photo.Both of whom were and probably still are her favourites, but only as a Mother/Grandmother . As a Monarch a whole different story.

MP's supposedly Vetted the Brexit bill, although I'm not sure why 3 yrs later they are only just finding out what they agreed to

The Queen has on the odd occasionms NOT signed a Bill put bnefore her and it has gone back to parliament wherre it was put into law. Her role is when ot comes tpo Bills passing through parliament is purely Constitutional , but i do KNOW that she has what one would call ways and means to get her input if she felt it was needed, based on her longevity and knowledge any input from her would be greatly val;ued.

She is a constitutional, not an absolute, monarch and must follow the wishes of Parliament, which is why those bills get her signature.

Do you believe she should have the right to run her regal eye over (some) draft legislation, and have a veto or right or amendment before it hits the Parliament, which appears to have happened here on numerous occasions over a long period of time?

I don't - that to me borders on absolute monarchy.
