Udon Traffic
Re: Udon Traffic
NOPw need to ban parking on the crossings, ban stalls setting up on them and anything else that impedes their use.
Oh I forgot ban all mechanically propelled vehicles using the road, make them really safe....................lol.

Re: Udon Traffic
Good Question KP. I would guess per day, but would be interested to know.
Re: Udon Traffic
I didn't look closely when I posted the photo.....but guessed it must be day. Upon further microscopic examination:

Re: Udon Traffic
Well ion a 24 hour period that is not a lot, but I suspect on closer examination it would give hour by hour and that would be more interesting to give people a time when NOT to go certain routes
Re: Udon Traffic
Gosh! Mondays 7AM not Sundays 7AM not holidays 7AM School vacation 7AM, the variables boggle the mind.
Re: Udon Traffic
Funnily enough 0700 to 0715 hours is a great time to get into town, when I was teaching that was my preferred time , sadly the 1500-1630 time slot was taken up by all the parents who had not yet taught their children how to walk more than 50 metres, apart from that not too bad most of the time .
Re: Udon Traffic
I wonder if the count was just conducted for an hour or 2 and then extrapolated for a 24 hour period. I can only recall seeing a mechanical traffic counter once in the past 15 years or so around Udon Thani. I wonder how these figures stack up against previous years because they don't really say much on their own. I would suspect they would show a considerable increase in Udon Thani traffic.

Re: Udon Traffic
It says average daily. There's no way you can extrapolate an hour's data into an accurate 24-hour observation. What value would there be in doing that in the first place? The quoted east side ring road totals works out at 15.86 cars/minute. Certainly more than that during rush hour but less than that at night so maybe the figures are sound enough?fdimike wrote: ↑September 22, 2022, 5:22 pmI wonder if the count was just conducted for an hour or 2 and then extrapolated for a 24 hour period. The context of the quoted study is missing despite being also quite relevant. For example, would you assess the daily traffic on the Mitrapharp on the last weekend before Songkran and claim that to be indicative of anything like the average? This quoted study was for 2021 which for most people and businesses was still a covid recovery year.

Re: Udon Traffic
I simply asked a question because I don't use facebook and had no idea what was contained in the study. BTW you can get an average figure many ways to include a short period of time by taking the count at different times during the day/night and combining the numbers. I have no idea what the daily traffic count on Mitrapharp Rd was on the last weekend before Songkran. The numbers are just numbers unless used in some sort of context which apparently they're not. If these figures are for sometime in 2021 then how do they compare to 2020, 2019 etc etc? That kind of information would be very useful to city engineers/government agencies for road planning purposes.

^ That's what I said. Without context, they are just random numbers. Chill.

A few months back I saw a lot of college age students at the Phorsi ring road intersection
with clip boards, looked like they were counting vehicles

Re: Udon Traffic
It is when you see the traffic queues, up almost to Makro from the traffic Lights at Nong Bua that you know it is busy or the opposite way going past the junction with UD from the same traffic lights. That is when you put on your thinking head and work out alternative routes always seeking a route that allows you all left turns so you do not get held up by Somchai attempting to cross over the oncoming lane .

Driving into Kut Chub yesterday, I'm pretty sure it was one of those traffic counter thingees that they string across the road that I drove over.
Either that or someone was nicking his neighbours Electric. He's got his little y-fronts and he's got his little vest, Chaz Jankel, 1998. Mash it up Harry.

Re: Udon Traffic
Now i recall a while back circa 4 to 6 months ago there were a team of guys at the RR/AP intersection filming all directions i asked one of the guys when i went for some duck noodles and he said they were checking traffic flow numbers for provincial record ..
BTW .. with regard to the new lay out of that intersection .. yes the surface itself is way better than of old but the new slip/frontage road has increased the danger considerably as it has from the day of completion just been like aLe Mans curve and as soon as the lights turn to red all approaching traffic zip down it at very high speed to beat the lights .. making it worse as its a semi blind corner .. road vibration bars and signs fitted all of which have not changed a thing and precisely the reason recent reapplications for a 7 11 and mini big C in the old Tap car park out front were refused again.
The RR is IMO in pretty good shape especially when all the East side work is done .. i just tend to choose my time to go into the town center to avoid school times etc.
Nationally (Isaan) i find the road networks to be in general very good .. when not flooded

tam's thinking head involves getting Mrs tam's voluptuous nieces on the scooter to run errands, buy dinner or get the shopping in. I'll be over at Chris's avoiding it all.Khun Paul wrote: ↑September 23, 2022, 7:06 amIt is when you see the traffic queues, up almost to Makro from the traffic Lights at Nong Bua that you know it is busy or the opposite way going past the junction with UD from the same traffic lights.
