It is interesting to say that over the years and with the continual flooding re-occurring almost every year and in the same places, the Government would not have managed to deal with this.
IOt is also noted that when BKK was first envisioned Canals HAD to be dug and properly maintained to ease the flow of water and assist in stopping the floods, but naturally over the years that maintenance has gone the way of the DODO.
I was told some years back that the Thai Government did ask the DUTCH how they could manage it and then promptly ignored the advi9ce probably too expensive and in any event a Thai listening to a Foreigner what the hell do they know sort of attitude.asking and listening is not the same as actually agreeing and being sensible`.
Like many things here regarding infrastructure , sadly corruption gets in the way and jobs are half done if at all.
To my knowledge here in Udon, we have had the Railway funded for twop lines a couple of decades ago, . One laid. Big C overpass , half completed and then eventually finished due to monies being siphoned off.
They may have tightened up on many projects but many are completed but only just, example : the trousers fit as it were but the belt and braces are missing can take years for all facets to be finished .
