it appears the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) is being wise in the amount of water they release from dams. In previous years they opened the flood gates too early and too much leaving less in the dams for the dry season. This heavy rainy season has pushed a lot of dams up to over maximum or near maximum levels. For most of them the RID is being parsimonious in how much they release. https://www.thaiwater.net/water Huai Luang, Udon's nearest dam is now at 97%... That's up from about 38% back in early August. UbolRatana Dam down north of KK is now at 132% up from around 26% in early August. Ubol Rat now has intake of 76.24 million cubic meters per day and is releasing what appers to be its maximum of around 54 million cubic meters a day...

RID may at last have learned lessons hopefully , could bode well for the future, What they have not yet got their heads around is how to cut down on the flooding maybe that is due to other agencies NOT being as pro-actiove as RID

Try telling that to the people in Ubon. News on the TV showed water up to the rooftops - only inhabited by dogs trting to wait out the floods. Bodies floating around as well.

Have to agree, long sleeve flannelette shirt for me this morning. No A/C for the past few days. 1.5 mm Saturday night was our lot.

For the first time in probably 2 months, ants are lining up moving eggs. I wonder if they're secretly connected to the weather satellites

The rice farmers were out in swarms at kilo 18 getting their rice cut.....before the rain. It started coming down hard at 5:20 and hasn't let up yet!

1.25" at kilo 18. Someday we'll understand how ants know several days in advance

Pleasant overnight drizzle, not too much but enough to satisfy the garden and plants needs .
Pleasantly cool this morning .
