In 1979 Australian Law enforcement issued an infringement notice with a AU$400.00 fine to the US Government.
What was it in association with and what was the charge?
Looks like this is too hard as Google will not help without more information.

Most of the SkyLab Space Station miss it's intended, Indian Ocean, grave site and scattered itself over Esperance and the South West of Western Australia. The Esperance Shire imposed $400 fine on the US for "Littering".

The incident was hilited on a US documentary channel:- "Secrets of the Universe" Series #1 Ep #3 - SkyLab

It was a joke on behalf of the council.
Best being part of this forum by placing the intellectual challenged on foes list. A lot less post to read and a great time saver.

4. In a previous life, he used to sign in as Tilokarat.

I assume one day when responding to one of his many wise and informative posts, Westerby starting thinking of him as being like a cuddly Uncle.

It's a shame you were not able to fit Niggly, Izzix and Doc in there.

It's true that they are rather obscure; nevertheless, they have to be included in any list of Map poster antagonists just for their ability to generate hatred, frustration and bile.

3 Who were Jardine and Matheson?
They were major international traders based in HK who had what could loosely be termed as “special relationships” with the Chinese Government and Chinese traders; they, along with Swire, were the inspiration behind “Noble House” a novel by James Clavell.

8 What did airliners do at Lion Rock before landing at Kai Tak airport?
I suspect from the question that the checkerboard is located on “Lion Rock”, if that is the case then, if the pilot flying hadn’t initiated a starboard turn some way BEFORE, rather than at, “Lion rock” then the airliner would have become an insurance write off.

Disclosure: I did land at Kai Tak bach in the 1990's and the most notable part of the approach was seeing the checkerboard and then, on finals, seeing the washing hanging from apartment blocks that were uncomfortably close to the aircraft.

9. He was a movie producer on a large-scale in Hong Kong, and most probably had to make deals with triads

1. The Treaty of Nanking (1842) granted Hong Kong to the British forever

2. After the Second Anglo-Chinese War, Britain leased the Kowloon Peninsula (Boundary Road) for a period of 99 years from China

3. This huge company started in the 1830s shipping opium to China and returning with tea and silk to Britain. It's a big deal to this day

4. The MTR is the subway system in Hong Kong

5. It is a Hong Kong - Canton rail link that began operating in the early 1900s

6. He was the Governor of Hong Kong from 1987-1992 just before Chris Patten

10. The Japanese imprisoned many British and Canadian soldiers here after Hong Kong fell in 1942. Conditions for the prisoners were horrific

8. Planes had to make a sharp turn prior to landing at the airport to avoid smashing into mountains. It was spectacular flying into Hong Kong.

*** I might have an unfair advantage in that I introduced and taught a course on Hong Kong for three years at the University of Toronto
