Rather surprised to see Udon making the top 3 most populated cities in Thailand ..583,000 ppl.reside here ...only beaten by Bangkok 11.7 mil and Samut Prakarn 1.3 mil ..
I would thought Korat n possibly Chang mai would of been.higher but apparently not.

I reckon the key word in the article is CITY ..ie nai meaung status / inside the city limits population not provincial.population including all.the villages etc.

We had an earlier debate on an unrelated thread on what constitutes a city. In the UK, if they have a cathedral, it's automatically a city. Udon already has a cathedral so good to see the local media catching up.

mind you the number count includes tens of thousands who work and live elsewhere in Thailand but are still on their familie's house books for Udon Thani.

I.would of thought Udon was wsy down the list ..but by CITY population maybe not ..Korat is a huge province but what is classed as the city or nai meaung maybe not so.
