Re: More nonsense from another government department
well, Thai "proxies" fronting for foreigners in a business or buying property and other proscribed activities are illegal. This, in particular is obviously a reaction to the Triad mess.. Wait and see how much follow up occurs..

Re: More nonsense from another government department
Sadly the lure of a quick buck is uppermost in many locals mids`. When I set up my business one had to be careful not to breah the law regarding Thai employees etc, so this is no surprise as many do it to work he when they are not supposed to be working.
The fact that you cannot ge a Thai to do some tasks is irrelevant to the Thai Government , you have to get someone to do it even if they are completely stupid `.

Re: More nonsense from another government department
I wouldn't call it nonsense at all, the Thai name's used to become directors of foreign companys to make them legal so they can launder illegally gained money, the Government here has to do something to try and police it and the only way is persuing the false Thai directors so they can shut the companies down, a good move in my book.
Re: More nonsense from another government department
The nonsense is the broad assumption being fomented by the local mainstream media that illegal Chinese ownership in Yaowarat is something new.
Nothing happened before and nothing will happen now, no matter how much we believe that change is needed to end corruption.
Or is it the need to end corruption so that changes can be made?

Re: More nonsense from another government department
The government might be very concerned about the sharp increase in very organised Chinese crime mafia syndicates that are now extremly powerful in Cambodia, Laos (Golden Triangle Area) and Burma, and of course Thailand, it might be that they have moved into and are taking over the Thai mafia share....tamada wrote: ↑January 16, 2023, 10:41 amThe nonsense is the broad assumption being fomented by the local mainstream media that illegal Chinese ownership in Yaowarat is something new.

Re: More nonsense from another government department
or the Triads have integrated themselves into the existing crime syndicates seamlessly since I don't see a huge uptick in turf war shootouts.
