Motor Vehicle Road Tax Inspection - 7 Years
Just trying to clarify if a car requires a tax (road worthy) inspection pre or post it's 7th year from new.
From what I'm reading the law relates to a vehicle "OLDER" than 7 years but most of us renew prior to the old tax expiry with the car younger than 7 years. Even though Mrs Dero's car only has about 30,000 km on it, it falls into this category next renewal.
Any experience?

Just take it the car inspection places
There lots of them around
They do the rego, also do insurance if you want or need
The inspection of vehicle is done there and has been easy for me

If your car's original registration date is 2016 or older, then an inspection is required on or before the expiration date of that registration in 2023, or one could say on the car's seventh "birthday" as defined by the date on the original "birth certificate." In my case I purchased my car in December on 2013, but didn't receive my number plates and registration until January, 2014. My first inspection was performed January, 2021. Just add seven years to the date of the original registration

Correct. My MY2014 pickup was registered in March 2015 and passed its first inspection in March 2022.

Yes, very easy, only takes about 20 minutes and usually no queue. Most will also do the tax for you as well. Compared to UK, cost is peanuts.
Re: Motor Vehicle Road Tax Inspection - 7 Years
the vehicle inspection stations are all over the city. They are marked with a gear wheel sign.
If you have them do the inspection (if required), compulsory insurance, 1st Class and the tax, expect them to take your vehicle book and have everything back to you later that day or the next.
Most also provide nearly any brand of insurance available. The Kor Ror Baw compulsory as well as 1st Class. If you have them do the inspection (if required), compulsory insurance, 1st Class and the tax, expect them to take your vehicle book and have everything back to you later that day or the next.

Thanks for the replies, OK we'll get the car inspected next renewal.
BTW:- I have been using our Ban Dung inspection station for my 21 yo DMax since it's 5th year (as it was in those days).
200 Baht for the inspection and 80 Baht to take the blue book to Nong Han for the renewal.

If you really look at the way the inspection is done, it is really an attempt by the Government to weed out badly maintained vehicles. a cursory inspection at best, small point to remember if you know where your PN number is on the chassis, clean it before going, assists the chap wishing to copy i on to a stick tape.

Mrs. Dero's Honda has the chassis number under the drivers door "kick plate" which has to be removed to get access to it! Our guy has not looked at mine for many years leading me to believe it is registered in his data base.
He does:-
Front and read photos.
Records mileage.
Dynamo brake and wheel alignment.
Underbody inspection.
Headlight alignment and all lighting functions.
Exhaust analysis.
Etc. and the whole thing is recorded on his computer (which I assume is connected to a national data base) and the printout is attached to the blue book for the renewal process.
Can't say as I have seen a nasty (unroadworthy) piece of crap in there so I don't know how or who they pay to get em passed??
