Anyone know about all the yellow shirts?

Post by Scruffy » August 27, 2007, 3:55 pm

Anyone have an idea what all the yellow shirts being worn in Udon are about? Every other conventioneer at the Charoensri Grand was wearing this, and I see them all around in Khon Kaen now.

It was traditional for Govt workers to wear yellow on Mondays because of this. Then with the Kings anniversary to the throne, and then the coup over the Govt, it is a sign of loyalty to an individual and became optional for other days of the week too(I believe).

OK, that makes sense if its for an individual, because literaly every other person is wearing it around town. Because yellow is associated with people power movement in Philippines, I though it might have something to do with the new People Power party in Thailand, to support Thaksin Shinawatra.

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of an individual's accession to the throne, June 9, 2006. Golden yellow is the color of Monday, an individual's day of birth. The wearing of yellow shirts is in celebration of this event. Also yellow rubber wrist bands saying we love an individual.

Whatever people thought about Doc, he had the answer to this one nailed.. :D
Doc wrote:Sunday - red
Monday - cream/yellow
Tuesday - pink
Wednesday - green
Thursday - orange/brown
Friday - blue
Saturday - black/purple

During the 60th Anniversary of an individual, more people began wearing blue on Friday, since that is the day that the Queen was born.
