Does the new B300 "arrival" tax count as duel pricing when accompanied by the B700 "departure" tax that still gets charged?

Dought it very much as part of ticket price and airlines don't ask nationality. Plus there is a departure tax on domestic flights of 100 baht as part of ticket price.

Not sure how they intend to collect the B300, as airlines will not be happy having to ascertain your nationality and whether you have a work permit etc etc (knowing some airlines I wouldn't be surprised to see an additional B500 Admin charge added). Perhaps there will be a geezer at the arrivals gate to collect the money as you pass through ...... No Thai Currency Sir, that 10 quid note should cover it

They're going to collect the 300 baht from ALL passengers automatically at the point of sale. That's the way different travel taxes, fees and other travel-related add-ons are applied and collected in other countries. The traveling world has moved on since the days at Don Muang last century, when there was a person standing at the entrance to immigration, collecting the departure tax in cash and handing out pre-printed receipts.

With the exceptions of medical and prescription costs, dual pricing does not bother me, but those are two significant exceptions.

It only targets foreign tourists, not domestic tourists. If you want to collect tourism taxes, they can tax hotels.

Places like New York, Dubai and Majorca collect a hotel tax that applies to everybody.

I wouldn't call it racist. It applies to everyone but Thais. Xenophobic, sure, but not racist.

FWIW, there have been a few places where my Thai driver's license got me the Thai price.

NOW back onto dual pricing I reember years ago having to pay a fee to LEAVE Thailand , that soo died a death, NOW those of us who have been here az long time , know full well that any money collected for this ENTRY FEE ( and it includes RETURNING EXPATS who have lived here for years ) will disspate into the ether no matter what rheoric the current Government employs or says.
As for Dual pricing generally I do NOT encounter it BUT at places of interest where it is employed it is outrageous and shows complete disrespect for Foreigners ( mainly Farangs ) by them paying up to 100-2005 per cent more just to see the same stuff Thais see but rarely do the facilities provided meet international standards .

To avoid blatant over-pricing I shop clever , look and check a couple of weeks before and note prices.

Yes they do .....B700 on departure has been in place for donkeys years. Hence my "duel pricing comment" B300 on arrival to go with B700 departure

If I can point to one single example of no discrimination, then the world discrimination is proven untrue. True?

So let's try this one. The Australian election commission us 100% independent. So universal voting equality is completely free of any discrimination, it delivers 100% non discrimination on the promise of universal voter integrity. They set electoral boundaries and manage all elections under their control without complaint.

There are of course other examples, but if even one is true there is not discrimination it proves discrimination is NOT everywhere
