LYM,

America is not the continent, North America is, Columbus never set foot on American soil.
That's true, but you wrote, ' Nope DM he never set foot on the North American continent.' Columbus did set foot on the North American continent.

To be really technical, America is not a country, it's the United States of America.

Although the concept of Presentism has recently gotten more bandwidth, it has been around a long time as events are always being viewed in someone else's 'present'. Nowadays, it's a convenient little catchphrase for woke.

If you want to start with Columbus that's fine but regardless, it's still the thin edge of the wedge and once you've started, where would you stop? I don't see any clearer perspective by eliminating anyone from history, no matter how odious or evil. Reviewing and revising history, yes but editing people out, no. Because then you would also be editing out their atrocities and what good does that serve?

Meanwhile, back on topic: they got better weather and the RAF fly pasts that were denied on the late Queen's special day were impressive. The last one with 'CR' formation certainly got everyone, including the balcony's attention.
I understand your point, but do not entirely agree, there has to be a balance here. Geeze I hate the 'thin end of the wedge' style rebuttal, that is exactly what the 2nd amendment rights mob use to ban automatic weapons.

I hope so Stat

In a moment of insanity and raging hunger, I bought a BK something at that place in UD town, It had possibly been made within 7 days, not certain about that. it was a sloppy tasteless mess that I threw into the bin.

Have to admit I ventured in the UD town branch a couple of weeks after it opened and paid about 50% more than I was used to in BKK and got a shocking burger ........... I put it down to staff learning, but havent plucked up enough courage to return, limiting my burgers to just BKK or the main touristy areas

It's also the same "style" of rebuttal that sane people use wrt the trans mob in women's sports and the civil rights protection mob use to keep church and state separate. It doesn't always have to be a defense of the bad. Poor argument possibly.

That must have been way back around the time England took a proper hiding at The Ashes, no?
