Women's World Cup

Post by tamada » July 20, 2023, 5:10 pm

New Zealand off to a flying start beating Norway 1-0. They also missed a penalty in the 89th minute but held out for their first ever WWC win, at home in the inaugural game.

That was quick. Looks like the sheilas just won the final the way they are carrying on up in Sydney.

Let's see how the Karens of Australia do against the Canucks before handing them the soccer trophy. One hopes the Canadian team is loaded with non-binaries and trans as they were when they won last year.

Watch out for the Mighty Quinn.

Just to make sure we're taking about the same teams and the same tournaments, the Canadian women's team have never won the WOMEN'S WORLD CUP.

Pay attention at the back, there's a test in the morning.

Have you forgotten already? The Canadian ladies won Olympic Soccer Gold just last year. Your memory bank seems to be of short duration. Never mind. You now know the answer to a question that will surely be on tomorrow morning's quiz on women's soccer.

Canada is off to a great start by holding the tough Nigerian squad goalless. Kudos to the Canadian goaltender.

Wow, where were the Olympics held in 2022? There are no Karen's in Australia, that is a North American term.

In Australia, the equivalent term is Sheila. In the case of the soccer team, they are called the Matildas.

In answer to your question, the Olympics were last held in Peking (Beijing) in 2022.

Are there 'Karens' in Mexico, which is part of North America? I thought the Mexican equivalent to the Australian 'Sheila' was 'Doñas Florinda' or in singular a 'Doña Florinda'.

Canada won 4 gold medals at the 2022 Winter Olympics, Skating, snow boarding and hockey. They won the 2020 Women's Soccer Gold Medal. You should know more about your country's sporting history before posting incorrect information.

Mexico is in the North American continent, what continent did you think it was in?

USA comfortably beat Vietnam, Japan routed Zambia, England squeaked past Haiti.

I can hardly wait for Canada's non-binary-loaded team when they get to play Australia's non-binary-loaded team.

Canada's non-binary team is fresh off a massive win in Beijing in the 2022 Winter Olympics where no other team came near them from a geographic standpoint. Having to actually play with another team on the same field may prove more difficult.

Holland pipped Portugal as did Denmark over China. Sweden edged South Africa. Jamaica held France to a goal less draw. 747 spouted scheiße.

It's been amazing to see how long it took for the liberal Beeb to pick up on Uncle's friend. Took them a while but we finally have the long awaited (non) article.

Personally, I'm one of them ( :D ) who still sees "they" as a plural pronoun so am more offended from a grammatical viewpoint.

I agree and find it very confusing when writers do this. They should be writing clear proper grammatical sentences if they want to communicate effectively , and be taken seriously.

New Zealand was dumped by a plucky bunch of ladies from the Philippines, 1-0.
