It's been a couple of months since all Thai banks initiated a security feature for their smartphone banking apps. This is where you're limited to having the app registered on a single smartphone and requiring they have your photo ID registered to permit sending amounts of 50,000 baht and more via the app.
With regard to Bangkok Bank, they advised Thai account holders could do this at any branch whereas non-Thai account holders could only do it at the branch where their account is held.
Has anyone managed to do the photo ID app security malarkey at a branch OTHER than their holding one?
Specifically Bangkok Bank.

Re: Bangkok Bank additional app security
Not exactly on topic but, now that you mention it @Tamada, my BB mobile app throws out this super generic error this am:
Not sure if they are related since I don't keep up with much on me phone. I have not used the BB mobile app for over a year.
The web site version works just fine. Mobile and web say nothing of needing additional ID bullocks but SCB didn't inform me either when that changed until afterward so not a surprise, I suppose.

Cheers @Potamoi, just logged in and the app is working ok.
I also browsed around my settings and got the following prompt which suggests I can do it like a local.
I will post the realities of this after I check it out.

I did it at the Boonthavorn branch
This is quiet branch and was in and out quickly
Opens early I think 8.30

Took less than 10 minutes at their 'main' branch on Prajak Sillaprakom, across from the back entrance to Tukcom. Dead quiet, take a #2 ticket and go upstairs on the right hand side to the Customer Service desk.
The reason I was asking was my account is held at their Pattaya Sai 2 branch. Now I don't need to go there.

Re: Bangkok Bank additional app security
So I reinstalled the BB app on me phone and it asks for user ID, Be1st card or deposit account to log in.
I used my existing online user name and password for the web based version and voilà. A few more steps verifying my birthday and it sent me a OTP code to recite back but it didn't ask me for additional ID verification.
I use the online version monthly but hadn't used the phone app since I set it up in like 2016.
I see BB keeps transaction/transfer history synced between the phone and web version which is great (and expected) unlike the SCB phone app that does not sync with the now defunct web version.
Thanks for the info Tamada. This thread pushed me to sort out the phone app.

No problemo. Now drop by any branch, get your photo ID added and you can send me the ฿100,000 helpers fee in a single transaction.Potamoi wrote: ↑July 26, 2023, 4:27 pmSo I reinstalled the BB app on me phone and it asks for user ID, Be1st card or deposit account to log in.
