Info
white planes are more efficient that dark planes
Dark paint is more heavier and adds the equivalent of 8 passengers

In 2018 United Airlines switched to lighter paper for their inflight magazine, saving 1 oz per copy. This saved 11 pounds in fuel per flight. Over the year add up all the flights and you have saved, 170,000 gallons of fuel

Does that mean that white planes are more lighter?

Strawberries aren’t berries
Neither are raspberries and blackberries, according to botanists. True berries stem from one single-ovary flower and have two or more seeds. Strawberries don’t fit that bill, but bananas, kiwis, and watermelon do.

Where as the Vietnam War
1,578 Americans

1,578 Americans are now listed by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) as missing and unaccounted-for from the Vietnam War: Vietnam - 1,238; Laos–285; Cambodia-48; Peoples Republic of China territorial waters–7.

My first post on Udon Map and I'm going to call BS on a guy that has over 6000 posts. :D
Hi everyone!
Number of documented Missing Children in the world every year ...
Number 1 United States (now remember these are documented ) 500,000
A little sanity check on the numbers here:
US population is ~330 million. Birthrate is ~12 per thousand per year. That works out to about 1 in 8 kids disappearing every year. Either by some miracle nobody's noticed all those kids going missing, or the people doing that documenting are incompetent and/or buffalo poo artists.

In any case, doesn't pass the sniff test.

This link roughly agrees with doodoo's statement. The figures are shocking. A suggestion. When making such statements it helps if you provide a source

Best being part of this forum by placing the intellectual challenged on foes list. A lot less post to read and a great time saver.

Taken from Google

A child goes missing every 40 seconds in the U.S., over 2,100 per day. In excess of 800,000 children are reported missing each year; another 500,000 go missing without ever being reported.” - Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)

But again according to the information on Google, some 97.8% of them are found =D>

That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.

Yeah, I didn't do that because it didn't pass the basic sniff test. My bad?
Oh goody, a source. Let's have a look.
Uh oh, looks like a non-profit of some sort. My BS detector is already twitching. They love stating statistics in the worst way possible. Makes for better fundraising. Oh, lookee there at the top of the page; big bold link, "DONATE"
Mmhmm.

On the positive side, that page does in fact have a link to a fairly reliable looking source for their US stats. Read through it yourself if you like. I did. Here's a couple highlights: Percentage of juveniles reported missing coded as "runaways": 95.7% (I'd suspect this is where the real story lies, but the data doesn't address it, and frankly I'm not interested in finding out.) Records entered (JUV/EMJ i.e. the under 21s): 442,442, records cleared 443,358. They actually found about 900 more kids than they lost. So this source that "roughly agrees with doodoo's statement" can be read the way doodoo did--about 1 in 8 kids go missing every year--or it can be read as we find them all plus an extra 1 per every 4000 kids in the US. Negative kid disappearances. Literally opposite interpretations on the same data set. See, aint statistics fun!

This is the kind of silliness that goes on all the time on teh internets. Someone says "studies show" and hands immediately clutch at the pearls. Few people sanity/sniff test it, and even fewer bother to actually reads the studies (or in this case, looks at the actual data rather than taking a fundraiser's word for it).

Yes, they are! Especially when you misinterpret them.

The 443,358 is not, as you say "records cleared". You forgot part. It actually says: "Number of records canceled/cleared/located during the month but entered from any time." So the records canceled/cleared/located during the month are from the entire database, not just the ones entered during that month.

So, yes, the total number of missing juveniles went down by 916 during that time period.

You forgot part.
No, I didn't forget. I did that on purpose to skew the numbers as hard in the opposite direction as I thought I could get away with (and got a negative number! hah! :D ), assuming few people would actually look at the data.

Good on you for actually reading through some source. Apparently they're cleaning up their backlog, which actually does look like a problematic number. No doubt you saw that too. But my intentions wasn't to start a debate about the whats and whys of missing kids in the US. The point was, don't just read 500,000 kids reported missing every year and think oh golly, what a poo-show the US is. Sure glad I don't live there! Which is what almost invariably happens on teh internets.

I get it, this 100+ page thread is more about shock/comedy than anything else. That's fine. I just did a quick back-of-the-envelope on the "it's documented" number and thought 1 in 8 kids, nah that's gotta be BS. Upon further review, I stand by my initial assessment.

Journalist: "this is a cast that is entirely Nordic so it has a lack of diversity"

Director: "well first of all the film takes place in Denmark in the 1750s"

A great story that many have never heard about

The 761st Tank Battalion was a separate tank battalion of the United States Army during World War II. Its ranks primarily consisted of African-American soldiers, who by War Department policy were not permitted to serve in the same units as white troops; the United States Armed Forces did not officially desegregate until after World War II. The 761st were known as the Black Panthers after their distinctive unit insignia, which featured a black panther's head, and the unit's motto was "Come out fighting". During the war, the unit received a Presidential Unit Citation for its actions. In addition, a large number of individual members also received medals, including one Medal of Honor, eleven Silver Stars and approximately 300 Purple Hearts.

Does that mean Reilly's grandchild should be named O'O'Reilly, and so on. :-k
