Who will win the AFL this year

Cats do canter, difficult to herd when they canter in unison

Looks like this is our winner be it though it was late in the season. Beat me to it by about 5 hours

Yep - lew, despite being a hopeless supporter, wins the prize for the earliest prediction. I claim second spot, with a special mention for predicting the early demise of the Shockers. ![👍](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f44d.svg)
I was flying from Bangers to Udon, so missed the entire second half of the GF - which may have been a good thing.![Pray [-o<](./images/smilies/eusa_pray.gif)

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
I watched (well I was in a bar while the game was on) the grandfinal in a sports bar in Pattaya. What a disappointment. There are not many big games of footy that you watch where you can tell in the first minutes that they will be a 'no contest,' but this game said that from the start. Geelong were awesome. Sydney didn't turn up.jackspratt wrote: ↑September 24, 2022, 6:22 pmYep - lew, despite being a hopeless supporter, wins the prize for the earliest prediction. Early Demise! Your bias shows NO bounds, at least they made it through the 1st round of the finals, a lot better than your wingless Eagles = 17th out of 18 was it? Anyway no second prize Jack!jackspratt wrote: ↑September 24, 2022, 6:22 pmI claim second spot, with a special mention for predicting the early demise of the Shockers.![]()
Get your money out and put it on the table now for next season Eagles v Dockers final ladder position.

Ask me again after the draft and trade period has finished.
ps do you remember the last bet we had, in Eddie's Bar? I predicted (then PM) Tony Abbott would not lead the Libs at the next election. Which he didn't.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

You're getting olde Jack! Not in me wildest dreams I would have given Abbot any part of a conversation with anyone. Ya have mixed me up with someone else!!!
Any way forget the draft, put ya money on the table now as I'm prepared to do.
BTW, early predication for 2023 = Magpies

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Used to have a few lively AFL threads on the forum. Anyone have a dog in the fight this year?
GWS took care of Port Adelaide last night to progress to the last 4 next weekend. Port Adelaide 9.16 (70) def by GWS Giants 13.15 (93) at the Adelaide Oval.
Week 3
Friday, September 22, 7:50pm: First preliminary final, Collingwood vs GWS Giants at the MCG
Saturday, September 23, 5:15pm: Second preliminary final, Brisbane Lions vs Carlton at the Gabba
I tipped 0 out of 2 this weekend but will stick with the favourites next weekend. I reckon it will be Collingwood and Brisbane to progress to the grandfinal on Saturday the 30th of September.

Bit hard to stay very interested when your team finishes 2nd last, and then stone motherless, in the past 2 seasons.
I'm starting to empathise with 747.
I was in a BD bar last evening, and there were 3 other Aussies in there. Only one of us wasn't an Eagles supporter, and he was from Sydney.
GWS in an upset, and can't see Caaarlton knocking off Brissy up there.
If I am right, could be a half empty G on the 30th.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I saw Brisbane lose a close one on ABC owing to a miscall by the ref so I'll go with them.jackspratt wrote: ↑September 17, 2023, 12:48 pmBit hard to stay very interested when your team finishes 2nd last, and then stone motherless, in the past 2 seasons.

Re: Who will win the AFL this year
Some football supporters might even be able to get a ticket - corporates wouldn't bother turning up for that. The opposite would be the Carlton - Collingwood GF and the scalpers would have a feild day. I was at the G the last time they played in a GF in 1981jackspratt wrote: ↑September 17, 2023, 12:48 pmBit hard to stay very interested when your team finishes 2nd last, and then stone motherless, in the past 2 seasons.

I see good old Qantas (and Virgin) selling $850 one way tickets to the Carlton faithful making their way to Brisbane on the weekend. Some things never change.

Wobbles progress in a thriller. Collingwood 8.10. 58 Western Sydney 8.9. 57. What a game.
Let's hope the Lions and Blues put on a similar show at the Gabba tomorrow.

Who cares. Rabbiohs in Rugby League, Geelong in AFL all kaput.
Bring on the cricket season. Keenly following NW District croquet in Queensland, inter regional lawn bowls in South Australya and goldfish course fishing in Tassie.

Tipped 2 out 2 this weekend and we have Collingwood and Brisbane grand final next weekend. Think the pies will prevail in what is hopefully a close game.
