Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
Time for some demographics. Jews ceased being the majority in Palestine in the 5th century AD. By the time of the first Ottoman Demographic data, they represented about 2% of the population by the end of the 17th century (1691). By 1800 they made up 3%. by 1900 4% (Zionism was leading to increased migration to Palestine). By the start of WW1, Jews made up 5% of the population. In 1922 under the British Mandate, Jews made up 11% of the population. By 1944, Jews made up 31% of the population; 60% of all jews were recent migrants.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demograph ... e_(region)
Jewish migration into Palestine after WW2 continued, and the demographic timebomb is the cause of the Arab Israeli wars. Jewish migration into Israel/Palestine continues to this day, with Arabs on the west bank gradually being forced off their land by new Jewish settlements.
So, what we see is waves of migrants taking over land and displacing and marginalising the original inhabitants. As happened in the USA in the 18th and 19th centuries.

And this has exactly what to do with why Hamas attacked?

Tom Cooper has made an interesting post on his blog, Sacastosaurus. Need to read down a bit but he does quote a number of sources for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by jews during the 1948 war and other atrocities, including POW massacres. Have not had time to check his links, but pretty damning.

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
Exactly. I know that I can show up at any Jewish community anywhere in the world, and if I'm hungry, someone will feed me. If I have nowhere to sleep, someone will invite me into their home and give me a place to sleep. We feel a bond with Jews everywhere and take care of our own.
The Palestinians, on the other hand, have been abandoned by their Arab brethren.
Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
Gaza is in a horrible position, BUT, I find it difficult to work up much sympathy for people who celebrate the atrocities done in Israel by the heartless terrorists. How can they possibly justify murdering innocent Israelis in cold blood? What threat were the women, young people, children and old people?.

Likewise I dont see Israel launching missiles that only kill Hamas terrorists. Children, women, men all die
Both sides are at fault and always will be

If Jews were the majority until the 5th century, on what basis do you suggest that Palestinians are the original inhabitants?

This comment hits the nail on the head for me. My sympathies are with the innocent civilains, on both sides. Both sets of politicians, the terrorists of Hamas and the Isreali military following orders, are evil personified. Civilians in Stalingrad, Dresden, Hiroshima, Nanjing and Mai Lai were no different from the Isreali and Palestinian civilians.Doodoo wrote: ↑October 14, 2023, 2:53 pmGlalt

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
No-one. I think, will dispute that this is a calamity for the innocent on both sides; however, one still has to ask why would Hamas carry out this attack knowing the innocent would suffer? An interviewer on Al Jazeera asked this very same question of a Hamas representative yesterday morning. The Hamas guy refused to answer this direct question despite repeated attempts by the reporter to get him to do so.
Also, it is ridiculous to think that Israel would not respond with attacks on Gaza. Hamas, as you surely know, uses schools and hospitals to build bunkers and tunnels thereby using the innocents as human shields. The sooner Hamas is wiped out the better for all sides.

I have just finished watching a program on Oz TV, where it was stated that Israel plans to build thousands of new settlements on the West Bank.
That can't possibly end well.
Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
We forget HAMAS is using the same playbook all terrorist organisations use, Humans as shields and public buildings as places for bunkers etc/ They are aided and abetted by Arab nations with similar traits.
Then using PR to publically denounce attacks on women and children while forgetting to add that they use them as shields.. Any pictures are unverified , telling the truth is never a given like the political playbook being used worldwide, sow enough mis-information thousands will believe it.
As has been the future will not be good, has not been good since the ROMANS took control although then both Arabs and Jews lived together reasonably peacefully. Until Judaism and Muslims and Christianity Who by the way all agree on the same one GOD, can live together it will for ever thus. Funnily enugh it appears only the extreme factions of the Muslim faith subscribe to these acts, sad the rest say nothing about it !!!!!!!!!

Just more excuses as far as I am concerned.
Best to give each side similar rockets, a tank, equal amounts of bazookas, rifles and ammunition set them on some secluded island and have at it, oh and a method to call when they are done. Tell them you will also check in every week or so
Tell them that there is no real winner in the end as the one who thinks he is the winner has to rebuild and finance the others side
There will be no religious followings once done, and will be open to addons if needed

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
I was wondering why the Jews left their homelands in the first place all those centuries ago.
"Although coming under the sway of various empires and home to a variety of ethnicities, the area of ancient Israel was predominantly Jewish until the Jewish–Roman wars of 66–136 CE. The wars commenced a lengthy period of violence, enslavement, expulsion, displacement, forced conversion, and forced migration against the local Jewish population by the Roman Empire (and successor Byzantine State), beginning the Jewish diaspora..."
So blame the Catholics (again) for creating a situation where the Jews fled while the largely tribal and nomadic arabs moved in?
"Historical sources mentions the settlement of Arab tribes and the establishment of new settlements in the 7th century, although little archaeological records have been preserved.[123] However some Arabian settlements like Khirbet Suwwwana, located on outskirts of Jerusalem provides archaeological records of Islamic nomadic settlement and sedentarization among local population. The establishment of new Arab settlements during 7th and 8th century was relatively rare. The religious transformation of the land is evident with large congregation style mosques built in cities like Tiberias, Jarash, Beth Shean, Jerusalem and possibly Cesarea. However the establishment of these mosques point to the influx of Muslim newcomers, rather than to conversion of Jews and Christians to Islam. ..."

Then blame the British (again) for fomenting the idea that these tribes and nomads can have countries and flags and the like to give them first dibs at their oil and gas.

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
We cannot undo all the injustices or events of the past, but when an area is occupied by one ethnic group for over 1500 years, surely they become the rightful inhabitants? If you think Jews still had a real claim to Palestine, then shouldn't the USA be returned to native american tribes?

Tom Cooper is a military analyst, based in Austria i think, who has written some military books (especially about the arab israeli wars). Came to hear about him because he ran a blog on the Russia/Ukraine war. He may seem biased, but he has a lot of well researched facts: here is a little snippet -
'However, voices of reason remained far too few, there was absolutely no political reaction from abroad, and the pogroms just went on: between 1 January and 6 October this year, over 240 Palestinians (including 42 children) were murdered by terrorist settlers and the IDF, and six Palestinian municipalities were abandoned because of the settler terror. Their inhabitants were ethnically cleansed: by Zionist settlers, with support of the IDF.'
You need to understand this background as to why Hamas act as they do. They are evil, but evil actions drive's men to do evil things in return.
