Aspeech made by Prince Turki al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia this week on the current violence in the Middle East is unusually frank for a senior member of the Saudi royal family.
It has been widely acknowledged as the clearest indicator yet of the Saudi leadership's thinking on the situation.
Prince Turki, a widely respected elder statesman in Saudi circles, has publicly condemned both Hamas and Israel for attacking civilians, following Hamas's 7 October attack on southern Israel and the subsequent Israeli bombardment of Gaza. There were no heroes, he said, only victims.
Such is the groundswell of Arab anger at those Israeli air strikes that Prince Turki, who was addressing a US audience at Rice University in Houston, is a rare Arab voice of criticism of Hamas in the current climate.
The group's acts, he said, went against Islamic injunctions not to harm civilians. The majority of those killed or kidnapped by Hamas were civilians.
Prince Turki, a careful, thoughtful ex-diplomat and spy chief, balanced his condemnation of Hamas with that of Israel, which he accused of "indiscriminate bombing of innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza" and the "indiscriminate arrest of Palestinian children, women and men in the West Bank".
He took issue with the US media's use of the phrase "unprovoked attack" in reference to the 7 October raid, saying: "What more provocation is required.. than what Israel has done to the Palestinian people for three-quarters of a century?"
He added that "all militarily occupied people have a right to resist occupation".
Prince Turki also condemned Western politicians for "shedding tears when Israelis are killed by Palestinians", but refusing to "even express sorrow when Israelis kill Palestinians".
President Joe Biden has since said, during his visit to Israel, that the US mourned all innocent victims.

I questioned myself on where to post this on Udonmap and decided to post on this thread .
I wish that the sides in conflict right now would hopefully be able to hear the message that is being pushed "How to spot an idiot" and take part in the lesson

In the week after the Gaza Hamas attack, the West bank has suffered from revenge attacks. 75 Palestinians killed. Mainly by Jewish settlers.

Blame Hamas. They knew Israel would respond, but the terrorist organisation does not seem to care much about the 'innocent' Palestinians. It seems to be all about winning the social media contest for them.rick wrote: ↑October 22, 2023, 12:30 amIn the week after the Gaza Hamas attack, the West bank has suffered from revenge attacks. 75 Palestinians killed. Who, on the Arab side, is going to tell Hamas not to act this way? The silence from the Arab world condemning Hamas is deafening, no?

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
I listened earlier to a couple of bereaved fathers, one Israeli and the other Palestinian, on Stephen Nolan's show on BBC Radio 5 Live. The Palestinian's 10 year-old daughter was shot in 2007, outside her East Jerusalem school by an Israeli soldier while the Israeli's 14 year-old daughter was killed in 1997 when a couple of Hamas suicide bombers detonated nearby where she and her friends were on the way to buy books for the new school term. They are brothers, united in the colossal grief of losing a child. Neither has a good word for each other's regime nor do they view the international efforts to end the strife as being anything more than an endless cycle of platitudes, power politics, proxy wars, empty promises and international lawbreaking.
When asked about any hatred between the average Palestinian and the average Israeli, they offer that, 'Hatred is the main enemy. If you know and understand your enemy, you can defeat him and you can kill him. But if you don't know or understand your enemy and only hate them, you will kill yourself.'
More than 700 Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost children and family members in this conflict are united in not using their deep personal victimization as an excuse to victimize other people.

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
Kudos to the Al Thanis, the ruling family of Qatar. While Qatar is hardly sympathetic to Israel, and the leadership of Hamas lives in Doha with the knowledge and blessing of the Al Thanis, the Qataris have shown how they feel about civilians caught up in these conflicts by their repeated assistance and leadership in negotiating the release of civilians.

One of the other issues that blocks what really happens in these conflicts is Freedom Of Speech.
Many institutes will not allow what really is said when individuals are reporting.
Hopefully one day people wont be so paranoid and allow words as they are printed.

What does this rambling statement mean, Doodoo? What are you trying to say? It would be helpful to use straightforward English. For instance, how does 'freedom of speech' block 'what really happens in these conflicts'? Second, what are the other issues that blocks....? Third, which institutes 'will not allow what is really said....? Fourth, your last statement is meaningless as written. A clarification would be of help.Doodoo wrote: ↑October 23, 2023, 1:33 pmOne of the other issues that blocks what really happens in these conflicts is Freedom Of Speech.

The British Home Secretary is very upset and going after the police officers who failed to arrest those shouting 'Jihad' at a recent pro-Palestinian rally in London. If you manage to see the video clip, about three or four guys started shouting the word, managing about four times before their own people signalled them to stop being bloody idiots.
Now, who is going to tell the Rt Hon Suella Braverman to stop being a bloody idiot?

Sad times when the police are very quickly on the scene to tell British citizens to stop displaying the St George cross flag in England on the grounds it can insight racial tension yet the same police allow these obvious "celebrations" and support of Hamas on the UK streets .. the police afraid to police total disgrace.
I watched both the largest UK gatherings on the news the contrast in the pro Hamas ( a terrorist group) in London and the Jewish Israeli one in Manchester were like chalk n cheese ... the union jack flying with the Israel flag and calm songs being sang ... against so much ranting and hatred filled the air in London.
Can see this leading to a much bigger war and terror attacks around the world becoming more prevalent as time goes on

yes, in that particular video there were some Al Qaeda affiliate flags waved yet the constabulary didn't chastise those folks...

Much bigger war? Yes, because terror attacks and aerial retribution just increases the hate. Too much collateral damage. As always, the solution is to understand the injustices that caused the 'war ' and try to find a solution that is fair. West quick to blame Russia for war crimes, and the terrorist organisations, but Israel? Rarely.Drunk Monkey wrote: ↑October 24, 2023, 1:15 pmSad times when the police are very quickly on the scene to tell British citizens to stop displaying the St George cross flag in England on the grounds it can insight racial tension yet the same police allow these obvious "celebrations" and support of Hamas on the UK streets .. the police afraid to police total disgrace.

The greater number of Palestine flag wavers didn't seem to pay too much attention to the two idiots with the Shahada flag and a megaphone. I assume that the Met didn't see anyone inciting much of anything either.
Nothing to see here Suella, move along now. Your Immigration Minister says this chanting is only reprehensible, ie. he didn't say it was illegal.

Good to read report that ISRAEL and Gulf states are looking to upset HASMAS allegedly 1 Billion dollar cash reserves/ It could be the worm is starting to turn even Arabs are fed up with Hamas.
