SKYTRAIN
Re: SKYTRAIN
no, they were pushing for dec 5th, but not even close, next spring. when operational, it will meet with the mrt/subway, which will then take you to the existing bts/skytrain. if more than one person, take a taxi, depending on arrival time.

Re: SKYTRAIN
All Thai Smile flights were sold out in both directions BKK- UTH from 25-30 November.
Pattaya was packed to the rafters over the long, nationwide Loy Krathong celebrations too.

Re: SKYTRAIN
Been running for years. A simple google search will give you all the info needed.
If I remember rightly the fare is about 45 Baht.
Edit:- Maybe the OP has confused BKK with DMK?

There are a number of choices at Swampy
- if you are connecting to a flight at Don Muang, there is a free bus.
- you can fall pray to a tout who will rip you off for a commission, tolls and a dodgy driver who will get caught in traffic and rip you off even more.
- you can get a legit taxi that runs off the meter and will cost four to five hundred baht after a slow trip into CBD.
- you can get Sky train and connect to BTS, no traffic, fast service and get into CBD for less than 100 baht.
Not a tough choice

I was responding to the previous post showing an empty train in Bangkok and offering some reasons why.

Transport minister promises 20-baht fares on all electric trains by September next year.
Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has insisted that, by September next year, the maximum fare on all electric train services in Bangkok and its vicinity will be capped at 20 baht.

Re: SKYTRAIN
I've had reason to visit Bangkok via Don Mueang twice quite recently and another next week - all to do with passport applications. I used the SRT Red Line, MRT and Skytrain to get into town. Whilst none of the services could, I feel, be considered expensive in any way (the locals may feel differently), the latter seemed more costly than the other two. I particularly enjoyed the SRT link (smart, smooth, not crowded, elevated track so good view), which is already just 20 baht for any journey! Not trying to be a cheapskate, but I didn't have any baggage, was not pressed for time (it's a bit of a walk from airport arrivals to the train station), otherwise travellers would probably opt for a taxi and probably not a lot in it timewise, if you get stuck in traffic. A massive 86 baht from Don Mueang to Sukhumvit in all and I didn't even ask for a senior discounted rate. Beat that.
