Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
Tell me Sport, what do you think about the NSW liberal party failing to do anything about the liberal member for Chifley showing utter disregard for tradition and the Anzac spirit.

Y'all reckon Karen Andrews, liberal Minister for Home Affairs should have resigned.
I think Andrews, and Vet affairs Minister, Tony Abbott the then PM should all have been executed by firing squad immediately after the Last Post was played.
And their dogs too!

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
The mayor for Blacktown at the time, Robinson, should have been ousted from the Lib party and thrown into a cage of hungry lions along with Isabelle White. Both showed total disregard and civility towards Charlie Lowles the long standing veteran. Karen Andrews should have resigned immediately if she had known what happened at Rooty Hill.
There are 537 local councils in Oz and you would be forgiven that all of these could have been vetted by the Fed.Govt of either side, many would have been run by the councils possibly without the Feds knowing who was going to officate at them.

Some here appear to he advocates for total Federal oversight of State laws with the right to rescind or reverse them.

Hate to tell you this Sport - but once again you fail miserably, in this instance, Constitutional Law 101.Sport wrote: ↑November 30, 2023, 1:56 pmAnd Whistles you would be aware of this,'Under section 109 of the Australian Constitution, if a state parliament and the federal Parliament pass conflicting laws on the same subject, then the federal law overrides the state law. Section 122 of the Constitution allows the federal Parliament to override a territory law at any time.
The Australian Constitution reserves certain powers to the Commonwealth eg international trade, foreign affairs, defence, import/export.
The balance of the powers are left to the states.
Public holidays is not included within the Commonwealth remit, and therefore are within the total control of the individual states.
South Australia is not a territory, if that is at all relevant.
I suspect there are more revelations to follow in respect to your bombshell claim about Anzac Day.

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
There is a lot more to the story. The SA government did NOT change the name Anzac Day. They simply brought in a law gazeeting public holidays by designing dates. So Australia Day, remains, Anzac Day, Christmas, Easter etc etc remain, no renamed days of significance.
As suspected, a total beat-up.

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
Good morning Sport 'conservative reporting at its best' I don't think so. The ratbag commentator who got kicked out of parliament by her constituents for her excessive views, is continuing at her deceptive best.
She framed her comments as a Labor attack on Anzac Day, nothing could be further from the truth. She selectively chose this important day and made no mention of a broadly targetted bill designed to designate all public holidays in the state.
Utterly deceptive, deliberately targetting an audience that did not run a sanity check over her words. No government of any political persuasion, Federal. state or municipal would denigrate that important date in Australia.

Breaking news, Anthony Albanese will be making a surprise flying visit to Australia in late December to celebrate the runaway cost of living that his government has generously imposed on those who can least afford it.

That comes up as a big, fat blank, tt.
So I assume it is a composite of Abbott + Morrison + Dutton.

And now this, hope you labor/ lefties and particular those green lovers have another think about this mess by labor. I said this on the 17 Nov 23.
'Oh sure, fitted with bracelets and conditions, you think that is going to stop some of them from breaking away and maybe commit further crimes or maybe filter into the community. They should have been put back in the pen until a solid and safe outcome could be reached, despite the high court decision'.

Well it had to happen. From Oz abc today.
A man released from immigration detention as a result of the High Court's ruling on indefinite detention has faced an Adelaide court charged with two counts of indecent assault. Aliyawar Yawari appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, three weeks after he was released from Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre in Western Australia.
The 65-year-old was arrested at a motel in the Adelaide suburb of Pooraka on Saturday night after a report a woman had been indecently assaulted by a guest.
Hope your happy with your short term Govt.

It obviously comes as a surprise to you, Sport - but Australia is a country of laws, ie if the High Court makes a ruling, it is not up to the executive branch to ignore it.
Unless you would be happy to see the country become a third world republic, which is where Dutton and his ilk would take it if you believe his rhetoric.

Please explain how the government is able to flout the law and ignore the constitution. The High Court determined that the regulations and laws passed by the conservatives was illegal, so they bear the responsibility for their inability to manage sexual offenders. Sorry, the guy could not have been released three weeks ago, what is being said here? The detainees were released around 17.days ago, that is not three weeks. Let's wait to find out the whole truth before jumping into the same stupidity as the Anzac Day post on this thread recently.Sport wrote: ↑December 4, 2023, 5:12 pmAnd now this, hope you labor/ lefties and particular those green lovers have another think about this mess by labor. No one cannot go against the constitution and those that uphold it, including the high court. The court was correct in upholding the constitution. That unjust law had been in place for around 20yrs, three labor PMs gillard, rudd and gillard or vice versa could have fixed that law up and failed to do so and also the coalition. Labor has been in power since April 2022. In May this year Justice Gleeson indicated to the Govt. that a challenge to that law was going to happen and attempt to overturn that law and the Govt.did nothing albeit try and offload a detainee to other countries and that failed, so they had ample time to prepare for the high court ruling and again failed to do bring about new legislation to keep them penned up.
Another comment from Whistles 10.10pm today.

Are you nit picking Whistles over a couple of days 17-21 days, it would not matter if it was 1 hour or 1 year. I quoted the comment from your lefty Oz abc. What whole truth you talking about, he was charged with 2 counts of indecent assault, the court will determine the truth. Furthermore the ANZAC Day debate is still going on.
