You dont say, would never have thought of it, laws eh. The country is becoming 3rd world under this labor Govt. JS, we wont have to worry about Dutto foooking it up, labor is doing a great job at it.jackspratt wrote: ↑December 4, 2023, 8:47 pmIt obviously comes as a surprise to you, Sport - but Australia is a country of laws, ie if the High Court makes a ruling, it is not up to the executive branch to ignore it.
Unless you would be happy to see the country become a third world republic, which is where Dutton and his ilk would take it if you believe his rhetoric.

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
What a nasty post, sadly typical of those right wing commentators and their brain dead followers, but nothing new either. Let's not let facts get in the way of a good old fashioned smear.
The amount of overseas travel that Albo has done at this point in his tenure is NO different to the number of trips by Abbott and Morrison. By any measure his foreign policy has been hugely more successful than the China baiting, ham fisted, destructive approach taken by his preceding Liberal Prime Ministers.
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 5egud.html
What you posted was a doctored picture taken April 29, 2022 when the PM was taking a domestic flight, however it is to be expected from right wing bigots who think childish name calling is somehow clever when plainly it is not. What ratbag site did you lift the fake picture from Tony?
If you want to discuss an appalling occurance of a PM inappropriately traveling overseas, who could forget Morrison's trip to Hawaii when major bushfires were decimating large parts of Australia.

Make up your mind Sport - you either uphold the decisions of the Court, or you ignore it.No one cannot go against the constitution and those that uphold it, including the high court. The court was correct in upholding the constitution.
See below:
Happy to fix this next one for you - strange that you missed those pretty obvious 3 names.
That unjust law had been in place for around 20yrs, three labor and three coalition PMs gillard, rudd and gillard or vice versa, or Abbott, Turnbull and Morrison could have fixed that law up and failed to do so and also the coalition.

Tony Morrison?
It's called leadership, noos. Which in this instance (amongst numerous others), Morrison failed to display.
Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
Morning JS. Where have I ever said ignore the high court or any court, please find that comment from me, I will not ignore the court, personally I disagree with some decisions, however must go along with their decisions. Under the coalition it was never put to the test that I am aware of, it was only tested under the labor Govt., they had enough time about 6 months to remedy the decision and failed to do so.jackspratt wrote: ↑December 5, 2023, 8:49 amMake up your mind Sport - you either uphold the decisions of the Court, or you ignore it.No one cannot go against the constitution and those that uphold it, including the high court. Most know who noosard was talking about, JS you nit picking again. Scotty was on holidays and his deputy was in Oz to take care of the home. What other matters did Scotty not live up too, please explain. FMD, Sport - you are all over the shop.
What does this mean, if not "to ignore the High Court" which said they were being illegally detained?

They should have been put back in the pen until a solid and safe outcome could be reached, despite the high court decision'.
The only "decision" Labor had to go on was the 2004 HC judgement, which affirmed the legislation, but was subsequently overturned by this current HC decision.Sport wrote

So I am confused as to why you seem to ascribe fault to earlier Labor governments, while minimizing any fault on the part of subsequent Coalition governments.

I have no intention of getting into a pissing match over Morrison's widely recognised numerous failures of leadership - such that he rates as Australia's equal worst (with Abbott) PM in living memory.Sport wrote: ↑December 5, 2023, 9:18 amScotty was on holidays and his deputy was in Oz to take care of the home. The Govt. should have gone against the court decision if they had enough guts and not release them. Let the Govt. fight it out with the court and may have given the Govt. time to work something out. Now we have a convicted sex offender re-offending,

What a fxcking joke, only one detainee makes application to the highest court, the result, 148 detainees released with the legal advice this did not need to occur, over to Comrade Whistler to rebut this statement.

It would be helpful, so we could better understand this "fxcking joke", if you gave us a link to the legal advice you refer to tt.
In the meantime, look up the meaning of "test case".

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
There is little doubt that the Albanese government is taking a black eye over the release of the criminals by the High Court, it has and will continue to resonate in the community regardless of who contributed to this situation. I get the feeling that the coalition did not think through the issue before framing the legislation and Labor when they became aware of the test case going to the court, should have had a plan B.
The UN resolution on refugess was framed post WWII to cope with the millions displaced following the division of Europe. Australia would have more flexibility if they withdrew from that convention and ship the worst of the bastards back to their country of origin and damn the consequences. If for any reason they cannot be sent back to their native country, then send them a one way ticket to Scunthorpe.

Re: Easy pop shots at OZ labor Govt.
An impressive list there by Scotty. I thought there would have been damning ones, so thats not too bad.
I see today a 5th released crook has now been charged in Qld. Blimey the ones being charged are all over Oz, is there no-where safe for Aussies in their own country, thanks labor, albo, oneel, giles and dreyfus. You have got us into a horrible mess. Pity the crooks could not be sent to Scunthorpe UK and work in the steel mills.

Albanese is hurtling towards a one term government, with those in his own ranks stepping forward to take a more public stance, enter stage left Bill Shorten ( who lost the unloseable election to Scott Morrison ) who sees the opportunity to reestablish his profile in the event that Albanese is rejected at the next federal elections.

Good lord, Sport - hopefully this 5th fugitive is not a clear and present danger to the Australian community like some of the others already taken back into custody for grievous crimes such as:
- possessing cannabis
- failure to maintain curfew, and stealing a suitcase
- failure to report and trespass
Do your knickers twist up in a bunch when you think about all the criminals who are released daily onto the streets of Australia after serving their sentences?
Or is it only when politically expedient?
LATE BREAKING NEWS - number 5 taken back into custody for breach of parole conditions back in 2012.
