Changes to income requirements re settlement visas to the UK

The UK Chancellor made his statement on migration to the UK parliament yesterday, much of it I welcomed. However, for those Brits thinking of bringing their Thai or foreign spouses back to the UK, to reside/settle, there was a nasty sting in the tail of the proposed changes (effective from Spring 2024), regarding the income requirements.

The piece in question reads:-
"Raise the minimum income for family visas to £38,700, from £18,600 from next spring".

Not an amount that would be in any way be covered by the UK state pension, or someone on a minimum wage in the UK!

If any Brits are thinking of migrating back to the UK with their foreign spouse, (or bringing their wives or GF's into the UK to live), they might wish to consider taking urgent action to beat the (albeit) proposed changes.

And the Ruanda policy is, and always will be, a dead duck.

Illegal migration - just make it a criminal offence. !0,000 GBP fine, and no rights to any benefits for 10 years or until your debt is paid off. Oh, and pay the NHS surcharge too until they can get right to remain. If you leave, your debt will be forgiven (as long as you do not return!) Also no automatic right to housing, set up tent camps. And that is just to start with. Sure some other sanctions will be needed too.
