Good day,
As the title says I'm curious what a decent hourly rate of pay would be for one individual (no crew) for various handyman style jobs. Painting, patching cement, making counter tops, etc etc. There will be a variance Im sure but would like a rough idea. Thanks very much in advance.

Re: Hourly Rate of pay handyman
Not sure if this helps but the going rate for a steady worker in a factory is about 350 THB per day.
I think it will largely depend on the skill level. Plumbing and electrical or air con work may rate higher funds which generally are done on a lump sum or turnkey basis.
I had a guy do some painting and odd jobs for 3 days last year. I paid him 500 per day plus material expenses and a nice tip.

Re: Hourly Rate of pay handyman
My Thai wife has been having things repaired or changed at our house. She does not pay hourly, she negotiates the labor cost for job, purchases all supplies and individual supplies their own tools. The one drawback is the workers do work elsewhere and there can be 2 to 3 day breaks when they finish one repair and start another.
Re: Hourly Rate of pay handyman
I agree wioth the last post, whenever I REQUIRE WORK DONE I get a price for the whole job, supplies not incuded, and if the worker requires help he pays them not I> He/she comes with me to buy supplies for which I keep receipts ( Returns/ faulty bits etc ) and the work is done. I also try to get a time window, half up front and fully paid after job completed in the stated time frame.
Re: Hourly Rate of pay handyman
Thanks, thats pretty much what I was thinking. Usually a day rate or a job rate. I can work it out from there.
Thanks very much guys!

Re: Hourly Rate of pay handyman
My wife sponsored a Lao lady at immigration so she could stay here legally. The lady has since married a Thai man but my wife still hires her once in a while. She is a good worker. I think my wife pays her 400 baht per day plus some other benefits. Our favorite Thai carpenter now charges 500 baht per day or often by the job. Since he is so highly skilled, he is rarely available. He is one of those rare workers who can do everything and do them all well. Most handymen are specialized and their work is no where near the good job the expert does.
