New Road Near Bandung.

Post by Prenders88 » September 10, 2007, 2:01 pm

Any one know of a new road that runs parallel to Highway 2096 Bandung to Highway 22. It's got a tarmac surface and connects Khum Chanod and Ban Chiang. I heard(village gossip) that land facing the new road has shot up in value, can anyone based in Bandung City confirm this?

Thanks

A link between two of the areas tourist sites.

I know a lot of Thai's from around the country drive to Khum Chanod to see the monks and take the water in the forest. I remember talking to a group of Thai's a few years ago who had driven 10 hours to come to Khum Chanod.

I live 10km from Kamchanot (spelling varies, spelt this way on a road sign outside my window) and trust me ALL roads leading there are an absolute disgrace this being one of the most revered Wats in Isaan. At least once a year a senior member of the Royal family visits it and it gets a huge number of tourists, mainly Thais. There are a lot of modernization works going on at the moment to the small temples, markets and stores on the outer perimeter. Accept for a new bridge the inner sanctum is has it has been forever. A lot of superstition surrounds the pool (yep you are encouraged to throw a coin in) at the main Shrine.

There are some road works going on toward Sawan Daen Din, I think it is the 2270. but I was out toward Kamchanot last week and saw no evidence of a new road.

Thanks Bandung Dero.
Your right about the shabby roads, even the road signs look worn out.
For such a revered place you would have thought the government would have paid for some improvements.

Maybe suffering the hardship of the shabby road is a sign of serious faith

went there couple years ago. not worth the effort, although was in the area, kind of, long way back from ban chiang. and the roads did suck.

to sum the place up, one of the ultimate voodoo magic tourist traps for locals. lucky lucky lucky, keep the faith. the only luck being all the baht it rips from the ignorant masses, to someones profit, so sad.

as always, these rantings of mine come from a demented mental state and are to considered only with lots of stimulants. same as opinions, we all have one.

oh yea, story of the place, the one i got was, it was a wasteland, buddha arrives, and it turns into a lush oasis. yea, right, take this pill and yours will be 10 inches also
