Extra day for Songkran

Post by Doodoo » February 14, 2024, 7:20 am

BANGKOK, Feb 13 (TNA) – The Cabinet has passed a resolution approving Friday, April 12, 2024, as an additional public holiday, creating a continuous holiday period of five days for Songkran Festival.

Let the festivities begin

I thought they'd already announced that Songkran will be a special, 3-week affair this year, so why not add a few more UNPAID days-off for the great unwashed to enjoy themselves, spend unwisely, get further into debt, lose their jobs, etc., etc..

Announcing and passing a resolution on the length of Songkran are two different things

Might as well make official what was going to happen anyway. Stock up on lao khao and share it around.

Yes darling, you're correct.

Now, how does that change the fact that the moribund basket-case Thai economy, is going to take another big hit this April?

Exactly the same happened in 2017 when the General and wannabe PM decided that "bringing happiness to the people" and throwing in FOUR additional, unpaid holidays was ample reward for the inattentive voter allowing him to replace Thailand's most forward-thinking Constitution with the monstrosity we have now? Distraction politics par excellence.

New dog, old tricks.

Pattaya– As the mercury rises, Pattaya City’s locals and international visitors have kickstarted the Songkran celebrations, Thailand’s famed water festival, days ahead of the official schedule. The revelry commenced within the bustling lanes of Soi 7 and Soi 8, alongside Beach Road, where beer bar operators and their staff joined forces with foreign tourists to indulge in the spirited tradition of water splashing.

Yes mak,

The extra day does not matter in Pattaya and its just the precursor in Pattaya and surrounds of the next couple of weeks.
Plenty if trucks delivering the local brews.
If travelling down bus is 140 bht from airport to North Pattaya bus station.

Have fun

Ekamai (between Sukhumvit 40 & 42) and Suvarnabhumi.
