Anyone using either of these gadgets, either here in Thailand or while travelling in other countries?
Looking for something slick and easy to use with a TV that's not smart.

I've used firestick and hooked to thai home wifi. To get access to my subscription apps like YouTube TV or Prime Video, I had to use a VPN on the firestick, I used surfshark from son, and say I was in Las Vegas to bypass their foriegn IP checks

I was using a Firestick for travel for a time. Easy peasy (but VPN needed outside the US for my particular Prime account). The Firestick has a very nice to the feel remote too. It allowed for sideloading apps like Smarters IPTV as well once in Developer mode. Nice unit really. Came with a short USB cable to get its 5vDC from the TV as well as a 90-250vAC adapter too.
Never tried the Chromecast one. Nowadays I dont bother because I generally travel with a laptop so I prefer to use it with a USB-C to HDMI adapter cable if the hotel does not have a smart enough TV for me Netflix to log in directly.

Re: Chromecast or Firestick
My niece swears by her Chromecast, so I ended up buying one of each. I will check them out on my return to LOS. Whichever one is the easiest to 'smarten up' the bedroom TV will stay there, and the other will go in my travel grab kit.

Recommend loading the apps and fully setting the ones you want to use prior to coming to LOS
Re: Chromecast or Firestick
Pretty much limited to BBC iPlayer and Netflix for me. The BBC will need a VPN anywhere outside the UK.
My Netflix account was set up in Thailand.
The small print on one or other if the gadgets says it will only work in the UK.
If I have time, I will configure those two
