I'm not sure if this is a technical issue, or otherwise - but it seems the function listing members who have been online in the past 24 hours (on the Forum main page) has disappeared.

Notice the past two days when looking in 'My posts', I can view page 1 but if I click for the next page, I get the error message "Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in 17 seconds". Sometimes it says 11 seconds or some other arbitrary delay but there's no countdown or anything.

I am having problems with the forum Search function - the one in the top right corner, not the Google Search box (which I try to avoid).

When I input a search item eg dentist, instead of doing a search, I get the same message as tamada in the above post.

And when I manage to get in to the search, I sometimes get the same message when trying to progress to the next page ie in page 4, and click on page 5.

I just tried to recreate the issue you had Jackspratt and managed to get that error after a couple of tries.



One thing I did observe (in case this helps the technical admin) is that the timeout message was about correct for the time it took for me to not get the message. The first one said 26 seconds, then I tried again and it was like 14 seconds then the next time it was 2 seconds then presto it worked.

Just guessing here but it sounds like it may be a backend database server being busy or perhaps underpowered or possibly just needing a data scrubbing. I'm sure there are a few phpBB pros out there that may be able to lend more info.

BTW: I'm using W11Pro on an Intel machine with Chrome at the moment.

Yes, I noticed it, too. But before I could get in touch with our systems person, seems to have resolved itself.

It was all over the place. When I posted UK passport. Hence there are now two posts on the same subject by myself.

Youtube videos are no longer appearing on my PC, in either in Firefox or Chrome. And ones that were there previously have now disappeared.

This is in both the Jokes thread, and Favourite Music thread.

However, they do appear on my Android tablet and phone.

Thanks for that info js. I am working via a Japanese internet equivalent of George Smiley's double-blind dead letter box and I thought the lack of YouTubery out here was due to Ninjas as I don't see YT's in UM on the phone either. They do appear to run ok if I use YouTube on the phone though.

Sounds like YouTube maybe have changed something on their end in order to force surfers to ONLY use their platform and/or disabled the way embedded "share" links are accessed?

I just verified that YouTube videos on UM are still working normally for me. It has always been the case that some YouTube videos don't work on UM, but the number was so small that we never looked into it. I assume[d] the people who posted the videos to YouTube didn't want them viewed on other platforms, and/or they might be restricted by the Thai authorities for some reason. However, as I said, the number of such videos is really quite small. I haven't run into one in months.

I just turned on a Japanese VPN and lo and behold, all the YouTube's that were invisible before on UM using droid phone have miraculously appeared.

Yep - intermittent now for several days, on both PC and tablet.
