FFS, stop it, wazz!
These are all countries with established nuclear industries, so are bound to make a minor mistake or two.
Whereas Australia will have the benefit of starting from scratch, with all that local experienced talent and expertise it can utilise.
OK, there may be a cost over-run or two, but that will only make the nuclear power 5 times more expensive, rather than 3; and 5 - 10 years late.
That's after getting through:
- federal parliament
- state parliaments
- environmental impact statements
- current land owners
- native title issues
- community resistance
- finding someone to insure
- etc etc etc
before they can even start construction.

Show us the money, Pete.
Dutton doesn't have a clue about what his cloud-cuckoo-land nuclear "plan" will cost, but he is telling us what the government's plan, based on sustainable and renewable energy, will cost - exaggerated x 10 just for impact with the dunderheads and fruit-loops that believe his fantasy.

Re: Australian federal politics
Today on Australian BC news, the goldfish were getting all upset that a Labor politician crossed the floor to vote in favour of a Green motion to recognise Palestine as a State. What is the fuss all about? In Westminster style democracies, crossing the floor to vote against one's own party is not frowned on, is it?
The more important issue centred on whether ancient kangaroos hopped or walked on two feet. The visiting expert believes that they were walkers as well as hoppers.

They were too big and cumbersome to be permitted on the boat and were ditched to fend for themselves on some god-forsaken continent/island until the British arrived to sort them out or something like that.

Re: Australian federal politics
Eh, forgive me but is that not the same rigmarole that would have to be gone through for the massive clean wind farms and solar fields being proposed, or is there a wee leftie fast track option?jackspratt wrote: ↑June 21, 2024, 7:53 pmFFS, stop it, wazz!

Re: Australian federal politics
Electricity production is neither left wing, nor right wing ie it is politically neutral.
It is only (overwhelmingly) right wing cultural warriors who want to make it about politics.
Australia doesn't have specific legislated bans on solar or wind power at either state or federal levels - which is not the case for nuclear reactors.
