Bangkok Bank Statement and Immigration Letter

Post by Declan MacPherson » June 28, 2024, 2:44 pm

I have several bank accounts that I use for meeting the deposit requirements for my visa. One of them is Bangkok Bank, but I've never used Bangkok Bank for that purpose because of the 1 week wait for a statement. I've always preferred to do everything on the same day.

Has anyone ever used Bangkok Bank for this purpose?

I'm guessing on the statement arrival date:
1. Statement arrives after a week.
2. Update the passbook with a deposit on that date.
3. Get the immigration letter and statement.
4. Make copies of the passbook, letter and statement.
5. Go to Immigration with the other required paperwork and renew.

If I'm missing something, please advise. Thanks.

Well I was hoping with all the experts and experience here, I could get some help.

Guess not. I'll make a call. Thanks anyway.

I use Bangkok Bank. The only thing different from your 5 steps is that I have never made copies of any documents, statements, etc. that I give to immigration for my renewals and I have been doing this since 2010. I always assumed that the extra 100 Baht fee (2000 instead of 1900) was to cover the cost of copies. Well worth it in my opinion. As a side note, when I renewed this past April I neglected to update my savings book and only realized this after I had already submitted my documents and application to the immigration officer. I thought I would be asked to go back and make a transaction and update the book, but amazingly it was never mentioned and I kept my mouth shut.

I get my Bangkok Bank letter and statement right before I visit immigration. I've never waited more than 30 minutes to receive these.

Thank you, anefarious!

I've had quick service like that from Kasikorn, SCB and Krungsri Bank. I just wanted to use BKK Bank this time to get in the flow in case I am FORCED to go through BKK Bank one day.

Thanks again!

Many thanks to all who provided information here and in PMs.

Everything went off without a hitch.

Something that was different for me is that the customer service rep at the bank told me not to make a deposit and that she would update my passbook without the deposit. I thought this was a great idea.

In the past at other banks, I have had to make a small deposit to get the book updated.

Thanks again to all and good luck to all.

Great update, thanks. I'm assuming you went to immigration as soon after receipt of the 1-year bank statement as possible?

What bank branch did you use?

Do you do the bank and immigration business by yourself or do you have a partner or significant other come along to assist?

Finally, what's your typical attire when applying for the extension?

Don't assume. I never go to immigration for any purpose until after 2pm. There's usually no one there.

Main Branch on the Tungsri Muang side of the Clock Circle.

Sometimes I bring the girlies I was with the night before.

Tuxedo.

I meant within a few days of getting the statement rather than crack of sparrow fart. The 2 pm slot is great, the ten-to-four was awesome for me (once).

Great Mon-Fri branch. Eerily quiet sometimes.

Some rely on their long-haired translators to "run interference" and some unwittingly do just that. Something about being in thrall of the uniform?

Some dress like they've just come from the beach while others complain about being kept waiting for hours. Not sure if there's a linkage but personally, it's long pants, closed shoes and a collared shirt. Seems to work as well as your tux.

Yes, I have seen the beachcombers who need some personal grooming and some personal hygiene care. I always do the long pants and collared shirt. The tux was only a one-time occurrence when I was on my way to a formal affair.
