eVisa Changes

Post by jackspratt » July 8, 2024, 2:42 pm

I noticed yesterday when looking at the website of Thai Embassy in Oz that they are apparently no longer issuing an initial 12 month O-visa based on Thai family ie marriage visa.

It looks like you get a single entry, 90 day visa, and will need to do the extension(s) in Thailand.

https://www.thaievisa.go.th/visa/non-immigrant-o

Previously (from memory) you received 12 months initially.

O-A (retirement) appears to stay at 12 months, but with a mandatory multi-entry visa.

If this is different to what you are used to in your own "home" country. it may be worth checking what the Embassy website says.

The Non-O visa was never a 12 month validity visa unless you asked for a multi entry visa.

Non-O multi entry visas are generally available (for some categories) on request but the option to request one is missing from most embassy and consulate websites.

Do NOT believe that just because the visa that you want is not listed on the website that it cannot be given.

The Non-OA was always a multi entry visa

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

If the Thai Embassy or consulates in your particular country are only accepting visa applications via the eVisa portal, how do you get a visa which is not an option on the portal?

When I applied for my first O-A visa in Australia, I had the option of single or multiple entry.

Earlier this year I obtained a 90-day, non-o, e-visa based on marriage to a Thai from the Thai Los Angeles Consulate. My previous visit a non-o multi-entry one year visa was offered. That was not offered this year. Only a 90-day non-o.
