The News limited story is a variation of what the Mayor actually posted on his Facebook page. Shoddy sensationalism.

ABORIGINAL CULTURAL HERITAGE ACT STOPPED TODAY'S TREE PLANTING IN WONTHELLA
Today, attendees made their way to Wonthella Bush Reserve to plant trees in honour of the Late Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee.

Despite checking the site online prior, for any aboriginal heritage, of which there was none, a respected local knowledge holder, shut down proceedings on the basis of ground disturbance and the new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act and the "significance" of the site to the family.

The site was last year ravaged by a deliberately lit fire and these efforts were a part of restoring the remnant bush land.

This is the first use of powers of entry and stoppage we are aware of under the Act, despite technically not being an official Aboriginal Inspector under the Act as no LACHS has yet been created to appoint them as such. So some confusion is now in play.

CGG complied with the directive to stop the tree planting and we apologise for the inconvenience

I note that the Mayor said THERE WAS NO LACHS organisation in existance and this has led to the confusion.

I think the mayor's facebook post is the definitive explanation. The News Limited article was so heavily slanted that it deserves the description of shoddy sensationalism.

This is the only show in town in Austalia at the moment:

Scott Morrison. Kathryn Campbell. Alan Tudge. Stuart Robert. Malisa Golightly. Annette Musolino. Serena Wilson. Jonathan Hutson. Mark Withnell. Paul McBride. Emma Kate McGuirk. Karen Harfield. Jason McNamara. Craig Storen.

These are the names of the politicians and public servants who lied, dissembled and participated in the active cover-up of a multibillion-dollar fraud carried out against more than 400,000 disadvantaged Australians, motivated by “venality, incompetence and cowardice”.

This whole disgusting affair was an example of the class-war being waged by the Right Wing of the conservative parties (Liberals and Nationals) that started with Howard and accelerated under Abbott. The 2014 budget brought down by Hockey was the first active attack on Australia's Social Services structures. The demonisation of vulnerable at the time identified those needing assistance as 'Leaners'.

This exposure of the illegal and callous attack on the less fotunates, has exposed how thoroughly nasty this faction had become. Despite all the expose, Morrison is unrepentant, perhaps if you love the little baby Jesus, you are automatically right no matter how cruel your policies have been, and lying to a Royal Commission in an attempt to cover up your illegal activities is just fine and dandy too.

An update.
Defence Department sets out compensation plan for unlawful Afghanistan killings

- In short: A compensation plan has been set out for the families of people found to have been unlawfully killed or abused by Australian special forces in Afghanistan.

- Compensation was one of the recommendations from the 2020 Brereton report that found Australian defence forces were involved in the "murder" of 39 prisoners and civilians in Afghanistan.

- What's next? It's expected the federal government will make further announcements about its response to the Afghanistan Inquiry report in the months ahead.

Only 1 significant charge laid so far from events arising from reportedly disgraceful behaviour by a few SAS and other special forces in Afghanistan. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... isk-police

Let's hope there is no institutional & political cover-up, and accountability will follow.

The word Muslim is not relevant, nor the pejorative Neanderthal.

By your own definition, does that officially make you a racist, Alex?

Most admirable, Alex.

However, I can't remember you expressing the same opinion on the Zionist terrorists on the "How Does a State Built on Terrorism" thread a few years back.

But we should get back to the topic of this thread, which is about Australia.

Perhaps the Zionists had a wee point to make given that they had survived an industrial attempt to wipe them out. Terrorism is terrorism no matter what but cannot remember the ZIONISTS posting clips of people being shot, just to make sure, or filming a religious event which the innocent Palestinian's were celebrating when Hamas just happened to show up with hostages.
Yes lets get back to your wee campaign of jailing the members of the Australian Armed forces who do the job so that you can post any amount of garbage and then call foul when people realise what you are. There's a good chap.

Was murder in the job description of whatever force you served with, Alex?

It's certainly not part of the ADF job description.

You have deflected, ie avoided answering the question, Alex.

Does it make you feel uncomfortable?

It's pretty obvious the clear distinction between killing (lawful) and murder (unlawful) is too hard for you to understand, Alex.

It is alleged the killing in the video - have you ever watched it - was actually murder.

Was that sort of conduct condoned when you were a soldier?

Pretty much yes.
If you were under pressure, trying to survive.
But you would not have any idea about that would you. Pontificating about something you have never experienced, what a star of a Good Chap.
Must be lots of good Aussie's wondering why they bothered.
