If you look again Lala it was in the form of a question
"We are still reading Hitler quotes arent we?"

I sometimes well, not sometimes, wonder what you did at this place in Ontario, was it manual labour?
Tut, tut, Doodoo. You do understand that by using 'we' you are speaking for not just yourself, but everyone. You might want to define 'we' in your word thread.

What place are you talking about in Ontario, Doodoo, Sault Ste Marie, South Porcupine, Kingston, Galt or where?

On the other hand, you are somewhat perceptive as I did work as a manual labourer picking tobacco in Brantford, Ontario. In addition, I was a labourer for the Canadian National Railway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and constructing the Trans-Canada Highway in Springdale, Newfoundland and Brechin, Nova Scotia for McNamara Construction.

You could say, instead of 'We', "Some of us"

Hope this throws a Spanner in the Works.

Just topping up with my long-overdue Fox News and OAN refill.

Kamala Harris is really pretty awful. The "but Trump" people are all running to her like lemmings. That's more scary than MAGA.

Try and focus Alex instead of thread f***ing and talking bollocks. This is about Donald Trump and not about your all-consuming and disturbing fascination with everything I post.

New York judge delays Trump sentencing in hush money case until after presidential election.

The decision to push sentencing from Sept. 18 to Nov. 26 means voters will cast ballots in the presidential election without knowing whether Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, could face jail time for his conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

If Trump wins election, but is subsequently found guilty, what's the odds on him calling up his gormless but rowdy "hell yeah" insurrectionist MAGA clique by invoking this murky presidential immunity bs that his sycophants in the SCOTUS recently made murkier?

"D.T. is a Nazi family from Germany. U dont know?" Charly where is this info coming from?

"In 1885, Donald Trump's grandfather, Friedrich Trump, emigrated from Kallstadt, Palatinate (then part of the Kingdom of Bavaria), to the United States at age 16. He anglicized his name to Frederick in 1892 when he became a U.S. citizen.[63] During the Klondike Gold Rush, he amassed a fortune by opening a restaurant and hotel in Bennett and later Whitehorse, serving gold seekers on their way to the region; one biographer wrote that the business included a brothel, a portrayal Donald Trump has said was "totally false".[76] On attempting to return, Frederick was exiled by Germany in 1905 for his lack of mandatory military service and not giving authorities notice before his 1885 departure; an appeal was denied"

According to this info the Trump legacy wasn't in Europe then

Kamala is making quite a fist of the debate. Bit better than Trump's claim about illegals eating peoples pets.

On the wireless, I listened to two opinions on who fared best during the debate, one from a Democrat and one from a Republican. Guess what?

The debate changed absoutely nothing.

I watched the whole thing on streaming video. You would have missed on radio, images of Kamala smiling and portraying a mocking look at many of Trumps lies. His insistence that illegals were stealing cats and dogs and eating them was an interesting example

Not sure if that had any effect but it add some colour to the spoken word.

No knockouts for either candidate, maybe a slight points win to Kamala.

If you interview a raging Republican and staunch Democrat then of course nothing changes.
These debates are supposed to give the 'floating' voters an insight into who they prefer in the coming election.
For me Kamala won, not by a mile but if I was a floater then after Trumps performance I would certainly decide that he is not fit for purpose, even with his new look (new hair colour and less orange on the coupon)

The interviewees were neither raging nor staunch. From subsequent sound bites on the wireless, there was nothing of substance from either debate participant, no food for thought and nothing remotely insightful. Excluding Taylor Swift, there isn't a huge pool of 'undecided' in the US anymore.

That's polarization, and that's been deepening since maybe the last Obama term. Neither party has exhibited any willingness to move away from their respective extremes and the politicians that appear happy to keep the nation deeply divided.

Unless something notable or exceptional happens between now and the 5th November, the election will probably come down to the usual thin margins in the usual 'swing' states.

The response to the debate will pan out to a large degree in the polls over then next week. The post debate reviews have generally been of the view that Harris got under Trump's skin and won by a narrow margin. I will be in the US for most of September at a conference with 170,000 attendees, it will be interest to hear what the delegates think, however it will be the IT crowd, very well educated so I expect it will reflect the view from a narrow demographic.

Thought her allowances for carers and small business start ups, cap on cost of meds etc outweighed most of Trumps lies and personal attacks. Never heard Trump talk about anything apart from blatant lies or just himself the saviour of the USA (in his own mind). He was screaming that every other countries crime rate was falling because they were chucking all the criminals into America! Screaming about inflation which is a worldwide consequence of both Covid and Putin's illegal invasion of its peaceful neighbor! Did not really hear one thing that he will do apart from immigration so I reckon Kamala won.
Dont disagree about thin margins, but is that not why the 'swing states' are so important.

You said you listened on a radio, it was much better to watch the actual body language, especially Trumps.
Might have actually sounded quite bland on radio.
Sorry the link is to a BBC article so it might just be biased towards their Champagne Socialism views but seems fairly accurate as its written by a Yank.

I didn't listen to the debate on radio or anywhere else. I did listen to commentary and sound bites after-the-fact. Somehow, I don't think I missed much when it comes to anyone's body language. It's what they say that's relevant. Your other post mentioned Harris's proposed "allowances for carers and small business start ups, cap on cost of meds" but it appears the media I have listened to is more focussed on how she mostly foiled Trump's attempts to drag her down to his level by poking him where it hurts, in his ego. I think that her going for the opening handshake was very clever.

I just heard that she has said she's up for another debate, since Trump reckons he won this one (of course he did). If that eventuates, I think I would tune in.
