Scandalous governments
Scandalous governments
Two scandals that were ignored by successive UK administrations.
The Post Office scandal where prosecutions commenced in the twilight years of the last Labour government but persisted throughout subsequent Tory rule. A Tory appointee has fallen on hers sword, handing back gongs and hiding in plain sight from the public inquiry.
https://news.sky.com/story/post-office- ... s-13140845
And now the NHS tainted blood scandal that saw its genesis under Thatcher. Although largely ignored by both Labour and Conservative governments, it's evidence of the Witch's enduring contempt for the little people.
"In the early 1980s, Lord Clarke was a minister for health in Margaret Thatcher’s government, at a time when Britain was importing blood products from the US. Many of them were infected with HIV and hepatitis because blood plasma was being bought from high-risk groups including gay men and drug users."

Re: Scandalous governments
Add to these the 19th century Wars against China in which flooding China with opium was a key component. Of course, it wasn't just the British who engaged in war vs. China, but many nations/governments.
We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and by the depths of our answers.
Re: Scandalous governments
Bugger the Chinese, please. They're doing alright now, despite the machinations of 19th century British imperialism.
I'm talking about present-day British government's warfare on their own people.

Oh, that was not clear to me from the thread title. On what date does your present-day British governments commence? Is Thatcher, for instance, the beginning for this thread?

One letter writer to The Times suggested, 'The current scandals now being revealed and over the last few years should make both major parties unelectable for the next twenty years. Sadly I don't see anyone else sufficiently competent to take their place.'

Yes, twenty years seems an appropriate elapsed time so that ALL those who were either responsible or turned a blind eye to the government's criminal acts have ALL gone to the great hereafter with their impeccable credentials unsullied.Laan Yaa Mo wrote: ↑May 22, 2024, 12:59 pmOne letter writer to The Times suggested, 'The current scandals now being revealed and over the last few years should make both major parties unelectable for the next twenty years. Competence in high office vanished with the expiration of Churchill and those of that ilk.

Re: Scandalous governments
People Are goldfish , governments bury stuff by creating issues. MSM help by changing narratives. Or even just ignoring things. Last week Gaza, this week Ukraine, but Ukraine isn't going well so they need something else. Maybe a good plane crash, massive fire or some sort of terror attack in the USA. Distract a goldfish for 2 seconds and it forgets , human nature is pretty much the same sadly.Laan Yaa Mo wrote: ↑May 22, 2024, 12:59 pmOne letter writer to The Times suggested, 'The current scandals now being revealed and over the last few years should make both major parties unelectable for the next twenty years. Re: Scandalous governments
People as goldish is a great analogy. It certainly seems to ring true on first glance. Frequently, we see that the important issues of the day take a back seat to how one's favourite sport's teams and entertainers are doing. Others do not want to get involved and escape from reality through drugs, disinterest or whatever. How many here remember what happened on June 4th or even care?
On second glance, it would be a mistake if the news solely consisted of the Hamas-Israel War or the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. Does one need to know of famine in the Sudan, the election in India, the fate of 'Big Joke', the crash the led to the death of the President of Iran, Trump's trials, Biden tripping over himself, local politics and events, and so on? Maybe these are goldfish moments, but they do serve a purpose and seem useful to know at the time.
I think it is true that politicians in democratic countries like to turn people's attention to other topics when they feel uncomfortable having to explain decisions that went awry or created tragedy owing to their neglect/mistakes.

I hope the British goldfish are paying attention now that Rishi has bit the early-election bullet. Now what could he possibly be trying to deflect attention from?
Remember the last time a Tory PM pulled that stunt?

UM I know this is not the preferred Thread for this post but I cannot find the UK Politics thread.
Another Asian Rape gang found guilty of abhorrent crimes against young white girls, one as young as 11.
Police say they did not give serious attention back when first reported because they were afraid of the racial tensions it would have caused (Same as the DPP when Starlin was top doggy).
Just think you get 20 months for shouting at a police dog and around 11 years for the repeated rape of an 11 year old, a bit strange yes/no.
Noted that Starlin has not appeared on National TV shouting for maximum sentences for the guilty.
DPP says many more cases to come to the courts over the next 2 years! 2 Tier policing/sentencing in full technocolour.
Wow Tam. Thanks for that, it was amazing to see just how many threads you add your wisdom to, and getting the last word, wow, impressive.
3 out of 10 old man, stop being lazy and try harder. There's even a Tommy Robinson thread in there that's made-to-measure.
Just tell me, did your constant hate figure rape an 11 year old multiple times.
Tommy (who I dont agree with 100%) was jailed for identifying another Muslim rape gang in Leeds despite the non-elected judge saying we must keep their identities secret in case we have racial tension.
There is something seriously wrong in the UK.

Re: Scandalous governments
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon was arrested for threatening to release their names. This would have resulted in an unsafe prosecution of the groomers and their being granted release without need to appeal. They would have escaped any and all punishment and for what?
Everyone already knew they were of Asian ethnicity and preying on white girls. No doubt their names would have reflected their ethnicity, something that was already known. But having those Muslim names in print and on the airwaves would only have fueled the blind hate from the narrow minded racists and bigots that remain in his thrall.
His collosal ignorance of the law is probably only eclipsed by his long standing and proven contempt for the law. I mean, what sort of person feels the need to hide out in Spanish resorts and threaten anyone in the media revealing where he's living?
Yes, the milquetoast woke policing that grew to it's current lamentable levels during the fourteen years of Conservative tutelage is quite shocking isn't it? Yet you appear surprised that it didn't stop suddenly with their election loss?
To you, everything is still Starmer's fault although he stepped down as head of the CPS in 2013. He left it in the incapable hands of his successor for five of the remaining eleven years of Conservative wokeism. You can use Google to research Dame Alison Saunders stellar performance. Note that despite statistics tracking burglary, violent crime and shoplifting rising significantly under Saunders' tenure, and despite being considered the first chief prosecutor to NOT receive recognition honours due to her poor, scandal-ridden tenure, she was given her damehood and was later invested by Boris Johnson' s Conservative government.

Tam
They had been found guilty, he released the names at the time of sentencing.
Going with your argument the young lad who murdered the 3 wee girls should not have been identified?
As far as I remember its the police who are there to
a/ Prevent crime.
b/ Present the evidence to the CPP for further action if their evidence warrants it.
The CPP then decide to go on with the prosecution or not if insufficient evidence or in Starlins case decide its not in the Public Interest.
Just tell your audience what scandals Saunders oversaw.

So if your not a narrow minded racist or a bigot remaining a fan of Tommy, you dont find anything ahborhant in the actions of the asian rape gangs targeting underage white girls on an industrial scale?

I recall we went in circles on this very subject over a year ago where if I say something, rather than discuss it like how come mainly white police forces, and the governments that they report to, turn a blind eye to the sort of families and the demographic these white female victims come from, you immediately turn it into something I did not say. It's your idea of a debating tactic, not mine, and I'm weary of it.

No answer to facts that identities are hidden and its not just Hard Right Fascists and Tommy supporters who find the practice of preying on non muslim children, passing them around as if they are trash unacceptable. Does it really matter what kind of up bringing these kids have had, its not really correct or agreeable that large numbers of young white girls are being targeted by Asian rape gangs.
Basically you have just killed your own argument.
mainly white police forces, and the governments that they report to,
The cops mainly report to the DPP in the UK, only the very high ups are politically attached.
Still waiting on the scandals etc.

Its looking exceedingly likely that the self proclaimed Servant of the People, the beloved Starlin will be seeking new employment in the near future.
Further revelations of the already massively rich PM's fondness for accepting freebies ranging from designer clothes and free tickets to concerts for his wife to hospitality boxes at his favourite football clubs stadium.
These findings coupled with the large wage rise awarded to his top Special Advisor while removing heating allowances for OAP's and increasing taxes on childrens school fee's amongst the many other "painful" decisions which will come in next months budget. Coupled with the early release of prisoners some of whom have reoffended in just a few days, to make room for people who post 'nasty things' on social media, it just seems one political disaster after another.
Starmer your coats on a shoogly nail. Take the rest of the halfwits with you when you do eventually fall on your sword.

An absolute shocker and inexcusable behaviour. Just in time for their party conference too. Looks like he was warned about this before but his unbelievably self-entilted defence that as long as they're declared, it's all good is hopefully going to be tested. Maybe the collateral damage will be the loss of if his back bench support. Who knows, maybe the winter heating fuel allowance cut will be need to be "reconsidered"?AlexO wrote: ↑September 19, 2024, 8:28 amIts looking exceedingly likely that the self proclaimed Servant of the People, the beloved Starlin will be seeking new employment in the near future.

Unfortunately, this isn't going to cause the collapse of a Labour government and an early return of the Tory pigs to the trough.
