Should I go back and find the posts where you were telling us that fascism is actually left-wing, and expounding on the reasons why?
If I responded in the past that fascism was Leftist, then I am consistent. Fascism is still Leftist.

The far Left is totalitarian -- total government control. The far Right is no government -- anarchy.

Today, I stated this:
"As for Leftist ideology, I never get into the weeds on the nuanced differences of fascism, Marxism, Nazism, socialism and communism. Suffice to say that they are all immoral, all authoritarian, all oppressive, all totalitarian and all Left. And I am against them all. ALL."

Khun Whistler. can you answer his question or not? It's such an easy question, do you think government should control media and speech, or not? Just answer the question, there is no need to attack the individual who posed the question. Apparently, the mods say we can criticise content, but not the person who posted the message.- rules of the Map.
you are asking multiple questions here.

Media, no. The fifth estate plays an important role in society
Speech yes. But with a light hand. That is why we have defamation laws, laws governing incitement, laws against racist speech, false advertising and that ilk.

Some are taking this sideways. This is not about defamation laws, false advertising or verbal threats.

State-controlled media and censorship of individuals -- deciding what is true or false -- has never been good for any country in history; and it hasn't been true in this 21st century.

If you think there are countries throughout history where state-controlled media was a good thing, list them and show your work with specific, measurable, factual information with citations.

Don't you just hate it when people take your "challenge" sideways?

The challenge is for OTHERS who are IN FAVOR of state-controlled media to provide evidence where it has been good for citizens. I am against state-controlled media.

But I even provided a picture of some bad instances of state-controlled media for those who have reading comprehension issues and/or have forgotten about some of the bad history. There are MANY more than the three villains shown, but these were the most recognizable for most people.

For those who need help,
(L to R) Stalin (communist), Hitler (Nazi socialist) and Mussolini (fascist).

Hope this helps.

By the way, you never clarified your point that you claimed that I took out of context; but you keep coming after me.

Declan,

Why do you admire the devil for telling lies to Eve?

Declan,

Why do you admire the devil for telling lies to Eve?
Why do you insist on reading what is not there?

The word "admire" was not mentioned once, nor was it implied in my being an advocate of free speech.

" I am against state-controlled media.'
Great news
Now ask yourself "How do I know when I dont have a State-run media?"

Oh, and the picture you put up with the fellas from WW2 are missing quite a few Churchill, Roosevelt, and every other country that was involved with WW2
So, we never know if the Media is being controlled or not. This is a dead issue

It actually means that all voices must be heard TO GET TO THE TRUTH, and that we cannot depend on the media (as you admit) -- whether the media is state-run or not -- to tell us the truth.

Which means it's not a dead issue.

The image is not about WW2. The image is about despotic, totalitarian regimes that have violated the rights of their citizens by using "safety" as a reason for doing so. Just as "safety" is used today to try to justify government censorship.

By implication Declan my old son. You think he has a right to free speech. You obviously admire Trump, but he deceived Eve, it's all over the internet. Talk to this to your minister, he may give you the moral guidance that you are in great need of.

So you believe in the Bible and the existence of Satan? That's good.

But this isn't about Satan or Trump or admiring either one. I don't admire Trump; and I call him out on wrongheaded ideas that he proposes. But like I said, this isn't about any of that.

You continue to fail the challenge. Your posts aren't even about state-controlled media.

You seem to spend every waking hour coming after me. For that reason and others, I am unlikely to take any spiritual advice from someone whose posts are so laced with vile vindictiveness.

But that's okay. You have the freedom of speech.

My washing machine is broken again. Time to find a new and hopefully better repairman. Anyone got any suggestions?

Interesting dilemma for someone proposing that there is only information, and no misinformation or disinformation.

Where/how do you classify AI created deepfake images and other media?

Is it even "information", and should it be controlled or just let run rampant?

I am against state-controlled media. And unlike some others, I'm not a fanboy of Hitler, Stalin, Xi, Putin etc. who obviously have or had a strong desire/need to control the narrative via media.

I think many can agree on that.

For the very well informed and highly principled Declan, can you guess who proposed the "possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”

HINT: It was a sitting POTUS

I am rooting for you on the above challenge.

I am against state-controlled media."

How do you know its not state controlled?
Using Hitler, Stalin, Xi, Putin AND Churchill, Trudeau, Kennedy, Reagan, Diefenbaker, and every leader known to man kind.
A person who I knew that worked in Intelligence for a government said "As an example a business releases different sets of financial records. The one that the Share Holders get to see, the set that the Board of Directors get to see and then there are the real ones. "
Media controlled, everything is controlled by someone and it aint us.
If you want the truth on CONTROL listen to comedians such as George Carlin, Ricky Gervais, etc

Have a listen

You don't know, you cannot know. Nobody knows what government is up to. Does that mean you have to be for state controlled media? Regardless, you miss the point.
