Re: Hezbollah-Israel and there on going fued
Unlike Hamas, Hezbollah has, to date, not gone to war purely for the Palestinian cause.
Sorry Doodoo who was it who declared war on Israel on Oct 8th last year in support for their brothers in Gaza?

Re: Hezbollah-Israel Conflict
Interesting read, Uncle.
To me, the most significant section was the last 2 paragraphs:
It is obvious there are also some pretty huge holes (no pun) in Hezbollah's internal security, for Israel to know exactly where Nasrallah was meeting when the meeting was bombed.
To me, the most significant section was the last 2 paragraphs:
Given Nasrallah's relationship with Iran, and the fact it has promised retaliation, where do we go now?But those with long enough memories know that Israel and Hezbollah – which was formed in response to Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon – have been here before. On Feb. 16, 1992, Israeli helicopters fired missiles at the motorcade of Hezbollah’s then-leader, Abbas Musawi, killing Mr. Musawi along with his wife and 5-year-old son and four others.
Mr. Musawi’s death brought Mr. Nasrallah to power, and the bloodshed continued.

By this clinical attack, Iran has been put on notice.
Of course, notice of what has yet to be revealed.

There, that's better.
Limited ground incursion underway.
Iran's mullah's may be less ardent on supporting their proxies in Lebanon than protecting their own, frail regime.

Reports coming in from the trusted news service, 'Sky News' the IDF has started a bombardment by heavy artillery into southern Lebanon. The targets are hezbollah strongholds and weapon cache's. This may be the start of a ground offensive against the [terrorists]. Stay safe IDF, winning winning.

There, that's better again.
It does appear that the mad mullahs think more of their beleaguered proxy in Lebanon and the destruction of Israel more than their own people.
Iran's first salvo of rockets fired at targets in Israel was promised and has been delivered. It seems most were intercepted. Now, the US is talking to Israel about their inevitable "measured" response.
IDF have shared video of their blowing up of a network of terrorist tunnels on the Lebanese side of the border. Weaponry seized from these allegedly includes "modern" Iranian-made materiel.
U.K. Secretary for Defense John Healey said in a statement on X that British forces played a role in preventing escalation in the Middle East today.
Healey condemned the Iranian attack on Israel and said the U.K. stands "fully" behind Israel's right to defend itself.
"I want to thank all British personnel involved in the operation for the courage and professionalism," Healey said.
If this escalates, and it will, how much tit-for-tat before we see Russian air power come to the rescue, same as they did in Syria? Maybe then, the US will permit Ukraine to use British long range missiles on targets inside Russia?

Re: Hezbollah-Israel and there on going fued
Hezbollah has been eviscerated, decapitated and rendered for the moment, combat ineffective. Ya gotta wonder with all the alleged 150,000 rockets and missiles why Hezbollah didn't coordinate with Iran's ballistic missile launch on Israel with one of their own? Either those mondern ballistic missiles are few and far between in Hezbollah's arsenal, already got destroyed by the over 2000 Israeli air strikes thus far, or.. their command and control is so devastated they can't do much.
Of note is the Lebanese Foreign Minister stating that Lebanon wants to move 100,000 Lebanese Army soldiers to southern Lebanon to fully enforce the 2006 UN Resolution 1701 that mandates demilitarization of everything south of the Litani River. I don't think he'd be saying this if he thought that Hezbollah was still a potent force.
I wonder if the UNIFIL force of 10,000 troops will now come out of their camps and also start doing their mandated buty of ensuring southern Lebanon is demilitarized??

Re: Hezbollah-Israel and there on going fued
I wouldn't be surprised, Dave, if they're afraid to use communications devices, -- fear of their communications hardware having been turned into remote controlled explosives, fear of Hezbollah having been infiltrated and everything monitored by Mossad.
Re: Hezbollah-Israel and there on going fued
So, sensing they have to total upper hand on Hezbollah, the IDF air force can focus on more surgical strikes inside Iran. Good stuff.
What's happening in Gaza btw? The goldfish effect may be in play here.
Never mind, just checked and the IDF have bombed a school and an orphanage in Gaza. Nothing to see here, move along now.

Not a glowing endorsement of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) operation.

In response to Israel demand that the UN remove their peacekeepers fundamentally for their own safety, the Irish Foreign Minister claims that Israel's attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon aim to 'drive the eyes and ears out of South Lebanon'.tamada wrote: ↑October 14, 2024, 4:55 pmNot a glowing endorsement of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) operation.

UN peacekeeping forces worldwide are normally so ineffective they may as well not be there wasting rations and oxygen.
The Irish lads have more than likely reported on the tunnel location and perhaps even missile launch sites but political allegiances in the UN prevent the dissemination of this information.
The last real Genocide in Europe was really caused by the peacekeeping forces not being allowed to basically do what they were there for because of UN rules (the cause of the slaughter of many thousands) The Balkans were only sorted out after NATO took over.
The Israel's are not going to be put off a their mission of protecting their civilians by a few blue berets sitting in their barracks.
