Been in LOS for a few years and thought I knew answer to this but, maybe not!!
When you take out Type 1 insurance does this include compulsory cover required to tax the vehicle?
Car insurance
Re: Car insurance
No. It is separate insurance cover with its own policy. Insurance brokers and companies may quote an all-inclusive price since you'll typically be renewing the compulsory insurance at the same time as the regular insurance first class or otherwise but there are still two separate policies. Most online insurance quotation engines have a check-box if you don't need compulsory cover, ie. already have it or plan on getting or renewing it yourself, but it's still mandatory.
Also, most Land Transport offices where you pay your road tax have several insurance company offices on the premises or nearby so you can buy it immediately before you pay your road tax.

Called "Para Bor", my class one insurer quotes it on my annual renewal as an addition. Up to me whether I take it or not = I do as the premium for it is generally a standard amount.

Re: Car insurance
Thanks. Thought that was the case.
The new schedule I received from insurers was a bit contradictory and, better to be safe than sorry!

Yeah, I’ve been in the same boat! From what I’ve seen, Type 1 insurance typically covers the compulsory third-party liability needed for vehicle tax. But I always make a point to read through my policy details just to be sure there aren’t any surprises.
