Why advertise if you’re not going to welcome enquiries

Do you, as I do, find it odd and not a little annoying, when making enquiries with companies and getting little or no response?

Not pointing a finger at any particular company(s), but over the past couple of weeks, we have requested information from a Thai packing and storage company, a Thai visa outfit that makes all sorts of statements about their extensive services, and a Thai transport company that operates a countrywide delivery service.

Our enquiries to all three have been simple, straightforward, and unambiguous, so why not respond?

I wonder whether it is just another way of collecting data, or perhaps a mixture of bad manners, ignorance and/or pure laziness.

Obviously, in such circumstances, we would cross them off our list and go elsewhere. I would however, be interested to hear about your experiences and what you did/do, when this happen to you.

Does not surprise me in the least. Land of the mediocre, home to the apathetic, domain of incompetence, hub of laziness and then add in superstition and smartphone usage and what do you expect?

Looking at your usual negative comments on Thailand and Thai people, it is obvious why you do not live here. In addition, a question arises, do you dislike Thailand, Thais or tRUMP more.

Were the OP's inquiries in Thai or English?

Email, phone or via their web portal?

Thanks for the response.

The website for the packing and storage company gave the option of contacting either a Thai or English-speaking person. We chose the latter, with no response.

The Thai visa company, unsurprisingly, advertise in English so that is the language we used, five times without response.

The Thai transport company have a facility for contacting them via their website and/or email. We chose both, the latter appearing to go to an email inbox, that is full.

In my opinion, any contact should be respected. Otherwise, a possibility leading to valuable business is lost. For absolute certain, I shall not waste further effort on any of them, which means that they are the losers.

Because my hearing is far from perfect, I prefer to make initial inquiries by mail. Where the only way to make contact is by phone, I don’t bother.

The old saying “vote with our feet” is as appropriate as ever.

You gave them plenty opportunity and options to respond so I agree, their loss. Have any of them got a facebook page? Maybe try that since the locals are very heavy into that rather than websites and that may be the only thing that anyone's looking at all the time.

The reason I asked about method and language is because Thailand's customer service still seems language-averse despite the accurate functionality of online and app translation. Like when you walk into certain stores and sales assistants scuttle off rather than do any work. The only time they hover like flies on poop is when they're on a direct sales commission with a brand. You are looking for LED lightbulbs and someone is pointing out the hot water shower units on special!
