The problem is the idea. The idea seems to be to rid the world of Jews. Until people are disabused of this idea and goal, the war will never end.

As Golda Meir is said to have said (but the provenance of this quote is in doubt),

If the Arabs lay down their weapons, there will be no more war. If Israel lays down its weapons, there will be no more Israel.
